We don’t match up well against their big, athletic, physical front line of Seniors Torrey Craig (6’6”), 6’8” Jodd Maxey and 6’8” 246 Ricardo Glenn. That same Senior front has beaten us 4 in a row over the last 2 years. These guys rebound almost as well as Mercer (+4.8 to -3.0 for ETSU), and defend almost as well as Mercer, holding opponents to .406 from the field and .339 from 3. Their front line is more physical and more athletic than Mercer – but their guards and their shooting are not as good.
ETSU has an advantage in turnover margin (+2.4 to +0.20), steals (7.6 to 6.6), 3 point shooting (233 made on .370 shooting vs. 195 made on .324 shooting) and free throw shooting (568 made on .749 vs. 439 on .675 shooting).
USCU is 10-2 at home with losses only to UNC Asheville (?) and FGCU (84-80). But they’ve also dropped games to Kennesaw, Stetson and Lipscomb, albeit on the road. And though Ty Greene is back from a hand injury, they celebrated his return by dropping their last game on the road to Jacksonville. He is not likely to be 100%.
The prescription seems clear – use your advantages with pressure defense, transition scoring, penetration and drawing fouls, and superior shooting. A half court game plays to USCU's advantage in length and front court defense and rebounding. But ETSU has a habit of running out of gas in the second half, and did so last time against USCU. They need a 40 minute game here.
The Bucs may well have to win on the road at Mercer and/or FGCU to take the tournament. They need to start with a 40 minute game and a road win at USCU. As Thursdays games proved, yet again – anybody can beat anybody else in the ASun.

The last win by ETSU at USCU appears to have been four (4) years ago - on January 4, 2010.

A great first half and a second half collapse. He's describing the game 4 years ago, but could almost have been describing our first meeting with ETSU in the Dome this year. Minus the happy ending, of course.
Some things don't seem to change. "To survive and get the win" would be just fine this time, too.
