Top 25 College Basketball Uniforms - JPBearcat3 - 02-10-2014 12:46 PM

I know it's from some arbitrary website, but the Bearcats Jumpman uni's checked in at #5 of all time:

Those jordan unis were great and sold like crazy. The write of the article takes a pretty good jab at the cat scratch version of today.

I'd go back to the style of the Jordan Era uni style in a heartbeat. The side bars were so much more sophisticated looking than the cat scratches which are cheesy.

Cuse and UNC have some of the nicer modern type Unis. Love the Jumpman as well. Most of the unis on that list were "meh".

The UC Jumpman jersey was amazing. Not sure I'll ever buy another basketball jersey.

RE: Top 25 College Basketball Uniforms - SuperFlyBCat - 02-10-2014 01:46 PM

Most of those unis were pretty normal for their era, so few standout to me.

Its hard for basketball jerseys to stand out today. Seems like the "best" wons are defined by the style of the team that played in them.

The Jumpman uni was way ahead of it's time. The program was lucky to be one of those chosen for the Jumpman brand. Current unis (unless you're Oregon) look the same (e.g. Nike FB unis) just the school colors change.

True. I like Marquette's yellow on yellow. UCF's are kinda ugly.

My fav uni growing up was Marquette's unis of the late 70-80's maybe? With the pulled out shirts (if I remember correctly) - the lines of the shirts when pulled out matched perfectly with the shorts. I remember that being the first uniforms I saw that looked like that. Pretty cool.

Those Bearcat uni's are brutal. Every time I see them I think of the Martin broken leg.

What...no Evansville?!?!

Marquette's uniforms have long been trendsetters

Talking all things Marquette University in an interview last fall, reigning state player of the year and future Golden Eagles recruit Jeronne Maymon wrapped up with an interesting statement.

"I also love the uniforms," the Madison Memorial star said. "The uniforms are exclusive."

Perhaps as perceptive as he is fashion conscious, Maymon has indeed signed on to play for a school that has generally been as sartorially splendid as it has been successful over the past four decades.

Beginning with legendary coach Al McGuire and continuing on today with its status as the lone Converse/Brand Wade school in college basketball, MU has never been afraid to raise the bar - or eyebrows - when it has come to its togs on the court.

"We were always in the avant garde," said all-time leading scorer George Thompson, who sported a jersey with a number inside a circle during his last season at MU in 1968-'69. "We did have some good garb."

I hate the "cat scratch" logo. UC has many great trademarks and uniforms design but the "cat scratch" might go down as the worst. I think you can an argument that the "Bearcat eyes" are equally as bad. I love the old "UC" logo that has interlocking U and C. The classic Bearcat logos that were more bear than cat also should be featured.

I for one lovr the cat scratch. Very modern and unique and it ties in well to the rest of the jersey.

They were the most bad ass uniforms around. Perfect fit given the players who wore them and the mentality of the basketball program. 04-rock

I actually really like the idea of incorporating their state flag into their jerseys...the execution could be a bit better however.

IMHO, all Maryland uniforms (basketball and football) are disgusting.

Ha!! Great find SuperFlyBCat, thanks for that. I'm sure if I scouted around I could find both the home and away unis. Could have sworn the side lines matched the short lines but whatever.....loved them then and love them more (in a weird way) even now.04-cheers
