Dachshund owns his inflatable shark. - SayWhat? - 02-07-2014 07:42 PM

My wife saw this on Facebook. This is one funny dog.

That's pretty funny. I literally had to put one of my wieners down about 3 hours ago. Toughest day in a long time. She was 12 yrs old and full of life and energy but her kidneys couldn't hold on. I'm heartbroken. Thanks for sharing.

Sorry for your loss, Denver. I'm sure she had 12 good years under your care.

I wanted to wait a few days before saying how sorry I am for your loss. I know from experience how you must feel. Amazing how individual their character and personality can be. The pain of the loss never goes away, but it does diminish with time. Sounds like you have others to help fill the void.

Just saw your post, Denver. I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope you're doing ok. I've got a 5yo mini, Hans, that is the dictionary definition of a spoiled Dachshund. Given their potential back issues, I think I'd be willing to sign up for 7 more years full of life and energy.

Thanks for the regards. This dog was the runt of the litter from our other dog. We still have the mother who is 15. It just shocked us cause we kept them in good shape and the younger one got sick over a two or three week period (seemingly out of nowhere).

The only secret I have for their backs is a good diet with no human food and make sure they don't jump much.

I don't have a link to the video but somebody showed me a pretty funny vid of a dachshund tunneling thru some snow that is a couple feet tall. If I get the time to find the video I'll post it here.

I saw that video if it's the same as the one you're referring to. Can guarantee mine won't ever be in that situation. He'd find a way to call the ASPCA on me if I put him in the snow much less expect him to burrow through.

He doesn't jump too much and where he does isn't terribly high. Didn't realize people food can contribute to that, but he's been pretty much banned since he got pancreatitis Thanksgiving 2010.
