I'm fond of saying that recruiting classes are for 2 or 3 years out, but some frosh do play as true frosh with varying degrees of success:

1). Shaq Vann - Should be able to contribute offensively this year.

2). Kenny Jones - Any WR with significant abilities should be able to play now.

3). David Francis - Although I'm not sure at what position, basing this pick mostly on abilities.

4). D'Marcus Moon - Assume one LB will contribute as a frosh.

5). Jeremiah Harris - This one is against my better judgement. Don't like true frosh DE/DT unless they are weight room freaks with a big time body and strength, but this kid might be different. Seems like he'll be productive even though he isn't a prototype DE in terms of size.

Erickson should redshirt because of our depth at his position. The OLs should redshirt because there is no one who has a big time body and strength. DBs sometimes play as true frosh, ala Canty, but the results aren't always pretty.

I hope CC redshirts at least 10 of the 17 players, basically taking recruits who are legitimately ready to play. He has a lot of redshirts to move into the lineup including some promising linemen.

I don't think there are 5 that will play in 2014.

Jones, Vann, amd maybe one of the LBs. Francis is an undersized LB that will need a year or two in the weight room before he's ready.

I believe the good thing, which you and I agree on, is that CC is in this for the 'long haul' and there is no sense of desperation to play players 'before their time.'

I don't see any of these frosh with the exception of Jones having an impact on the team next year or grabbing a starting position. I'm sorry we didn't get a TE or more WRs. And I hope all three of our scholie QBs remain in good health.

Just a note on the bios for the press release, Rachwal for example is ranked the 69th LB in the COUNTRY by Scout not the 69th ranked in the State.

Do we have any more scholies for 2014?

Good question.

Literally someone would have to go through the 2014 posted roster and ferret out those whom are believed to have been walk-ons and not earned a scholarship and subtract them from the those listed and add 17 LOI recruits.

General rule of thumb: Player needs to make the 2-deeps to earn a scholarship.

CC said that they are not done with this class yet.
