UAB (126) hosts the ODU (162) Monarchs Thursday night.
ODU is 10-10 overall and 4-1 in C-USA. Over the last ten games, they are 6-4.
Their best wins were home victories over George Mason (152), 71-66, and Murray State (199), 70-60.
Their worst losses have been a home loss to College of Charleston (197), 51-44, and a road loss to William and Mary (166), 74-68.
The Monarchs are a young team, as their most frequently used rotation over the past five games is as follows:
Bacote 6-4 180 So
Palmore 6-1 180 So
Batten 6-3 205 Jr
Ross 6-6 225 Jr
Taylor 6-7 210 Fr
KenPom.com favors UAB in this one 69-63.

ODU plays a relatively slow tempo type of game, as they average 65.4 possessions per game, which ranks 269th.
They are a terrible free throw shooting team at 60.5%, or 347th in the country. Only four teams shoot worse than they do. Bacote is their best FT shooter, by far, at 79.2%. He has also been to the line the most (95-120), which is comparable to Chad Frazier (90-116) who leads UAB in times to the line.
Aaron Bacote also has the most 3-pointers on the team (33-87 37.9%).
Three other players appear to be a threat from behind the 3-pt arc: Dimitri Batten (21-78 26.9%), Jordan Baker 6-2 195 Fr (21-55 38.2%), and Ambrose Mosley 6-2 170 Fr (21-74 28.4%).

UAB has all access which is crap. The audio & video do not sync up.
You can also watch it via Russia, but expect a lot of extra stuff with it, viruses, etc.
Some of us prefer to listen to the radio broadcast instead of watching video.

You should be able to snag the All Access for free on the pirate site First Row Sports.

This week is big for UAB, but it's also pretty big for Old Dominion. Splitting road games at UAB and MTSU would be enough to say they're legit. Losing both would have them sliding to the middle of the pack.
Obviously UAB needs to win both this week to start climbing out the the early conference hole we dug.

Old Dominion doesn't seem to have much size. They only have one play taller than 6-7. He's a senior 7-footer who plays less than seven minutes a game, and he isn't very productive in those minutes either.
They are a low-scoring team. They average 65.5 ppg, which is 305th in the nation. They've been right on that pace for conference play, even though it included 81 points against ECU and 52 against FIU. (They still beat FIU by 16, lol.) I'll try to post the adjusted tempo stats at some point to see how efficient their offense is.
I would love to hear a scouting report from an ODU fan.
