Think any might get "hurt feelings" during spring practice as the staff tries to hurry up to get Coker ready to go? Several are frosh or soph standing next year. One QB commit from CA has already switched to USC.

Do you really think UAB has a shot at landing any QB who was good enough to go to Bama? Sometimes I wonder if we even live on the same planet.
we did this year 2014 but it is a juco

I know Blake Bean of Oneonta HS (4A) is still looking for a school?

http://www.montgomeryadvertiser.com/article/20140115/SPORTS03/301150045/High-school-sports-Mr-Football-will-awarded-today

He was All-State in 4A 3 years straight (2011, 2012 and 2013). Went to the state championship 3 years straight.

Blake Bean DL Sr. 6-3 260

Somebody on the staff needs to call him. Beef up the defense!

Andrew Bone ‏@AndrewJBone
Lee Dufour, offensive lineman from Saraland HS in Ala, receives offer from #UAB. He will visit the Blazers this weekend.

Some may not be keeping up with the recruiting forum, but a lot of stuff going on.
The coaching staff is putting in a lot of time evaluating & making offers.
It sounds like a few from the previous staff may still be involved.

Yeah, they appear to be working their asses off to get guys to sign with us. Really impressive job so far.

Recruiting "home stretch run" this weekend with Wed. finish line in sight. Has anything been said about the annual SD social in the G&G Room Wed evening?

They are starting to pull offers although they said they would honor them. It very late in the game to do something like that.

Yeah anyone see what former commit, Chris Hudson, tweeted this morning? [attachment=5295]

I don't have a problem with Coach Clark going in a different direction, but I do remember him saying at the press conference that he was going to honor all of the previous commitments. Either way, I trust his decision making thus far and hope we sign a lot of quality guys next week!

Hello again, Mama Jalen.

Unfortunate that this is happening, but I guess it is a tough call for a brand new coaching staff. Not sure why they would say they would honor all commitments publicly before at least seeing what they had first.

If true I have a huge issue with it

Hudson committed over 6 months ago. 04-jawdrop

I took it to mean he was talking about not honoring other people's commits since he said "I hope WE sign quality guys next week." Am I missing something?

RE: Champlin: UAB set for big recruiting weekend under new head coach Bill Clark - tiger29 - 01-30-2014 06:42 PM

Evaluating those that were committed prior to assuring them their offers were in tact would have been the prudent thing to do. You have kids that have been committed for a long time and as the other young man stated turned down others trying to stay true to their word. I've always taught my son to say what you mean and mean what you say, but this my have him second guessing that principal. If they had pulled the offers when they first got there, it would've given these kids more time to find another home. Everyone has filled their spots or close to it. Earlier this week he had a chance to go somewhere else, but when he remained steadfast with UAB they moved on. I know that's the nature of the business, but its still not right! Sorry for the long post.

You never know, some of those guys might have been offered a grayshirt offer under Clark (?). If a player doesn't fit into your system, it's really better for the player to move on to another program, where he might fit in better. With that said, I liked this Stewart kid a lot!

RE: Champlin: UAB set for big recruiting weekend under new head coach Bill Clark - the_blazerman - 01-30-2014 07:08 PM

The (former) kid from Minor (porkchop) "decommitted" a week or so ago after the new staff was announced.

I'm guessing that opened the door for UAB to decommit to the player.

RE: Champlin: UAB set for big recruiting weekend under new head coach Bill Clark - UAB Band Dad - 01-30-2014 07:13 PM

It's a tough deal either way. I can understand why a kid or his parents would feel ill-used. The other side of the coin is that if the recruit decommits, he can't say that the coaches failed to live up to their commitment, especially if these coaches didn't make one in the first place.

I hate it for any recruit that gets left high and dry at this point. I hope he catches on somewhere.

RE: Champlin: UAB set for big recruiting weekend under new head coach Bill Clark - the_blazerman - 01-30-2014 07:16 PM

Not saying that there isn't someone getting screwed over out there, just that in some cases it works both ways.

RE: Champlin: UAB set for big recruiting weekend under new head coach Bill Clark - Blazermom - 01-30-2014 07:28 PM

Could they be decommitting due to grades or another reason other than because their offer was pulled?
