That's fine. I fully expect him to be the first "Voice of the SEC Network." 04-rock

I haven't liked that guy since he was the local sports anchor on WAFB TV here in Baton Rouge in the Eighties.

Most TV and radio contracts have a no compete clause for 6 months following the termination of the contract by the entertainer or as part of a negotiated settlement. January plus six months is right before the SEC Network begins in August. Just saying.

FOX Sports1?

This. He has fellated the SEC for years, and continues it daily on his Sirius radio program.

Correct me If I'm wrong but isn't Mark Slabach, ESPN's guy on the SEC? With Barnhart free lancing, Slabach with ESPN, and now Brando a long time friend of Finebaum leaving CBS what I suspect is that a "Talking Football" style program is coming to the SECN. For those of you outside of the Southeast it is probably the most entertaining analysis / prediction show of its kind and given the participants involved (Slabach & Barnhart) if you added Brando and Finebaum you would have must see TV. Frequently stories are either broken on the show or discussed in detail on the show so it has a news flavor to it as well.

Anyway I do think Brando will be involved with the SEC someway. I'll be interested to see who we rope in for hoops color.

That may be true, but the SEC has pretty much earned that. I have found Brando to be one of the few college football talking heads willing to recognize and respect quality sports at the G5 level.

Jimmy Dykes would be a seamless fit to lead color for SEC basketball. I hope to all my lucky stars that Dave "Buzz" Baker is not involved. He is unbearable.

I wouldn't be surprised if Archie Manning came along if Brando is signed on. Being in Charlotte or on site for games is a big draw for those with roots down here. Wright Thompson as the Tom Rinaldi figure also makes sense. ESPN has a ton of good Southern talent in the stable. Here is what I would do if I where ESPN/SECN (if any of this has been reported or confirmed already, let me know).

College Gameday
Host - Chris Fowler or Rece Davis if Fowler moves to the Musburger chair and doesn't have time
Analysts - Herbstreit, Desmond, Corso in his spots
Features - Rinaldi, SVP, Ponder

SEC Gameday
Host - Joe Tessitore (confirmed)
Analysts - Tebow (confirmed), David Pollack, Jesse Palmer (also give him the lead color gig for the best non-CBS SEC game... is that enough to get him away from the ABC halftime report?)
Features - Finebaum, Wright Thompson, Shannon Spake (Southerner who does a solid job. NASCAR fans already know and like here.)

I would love to see Charles Davis (former UT player and coach) come back over, but he has too good a gig on Fox. I also wonder if they can get Andy Staples away from Sports Illustrated. He is entertaining and would do a good job reporting the harder news portions of the show.

Damien Fishback does a good job as well.

Brando was the reason someone invented the remote.

He may have encouraged its frequent use, but laziness was the reason it was invented.

Got to disagree, as ac wrote, Brando was one of the few sportscasters that gave props to the G5 schools when they deserve it.

Yes, he focuses on the SEC and southern schools, but he's not afraid to admit when other teams deserve their props.

Good riddance. He is a LSU A&M minder!

Brando is so smug about the SEC. He along with Finebaum and Barnhart are so insulated and brain washed by the SEC they do not appreciate anything outside the SEC. I will say one thing for Finebaum though. He repeatedly predicted OU had no chance at all against Alabama in the Sugar Bowl and had several disparaging things to say about Bob Stoops and OU.......after the game he described himself as an idiot.

If SEC Network gets Tim Brando Show with that and Fienbaum they will have a programming block that will appeal to SEC fans during the daytime hours. Not to mention it will be live television other than just replaying games or classic games like B1G Network does during the day.

You're onto something...

Great point. Having as much live TV as ESPN would be awesome and really drive up the value of the network. Hopefully, that is the goal.
