Austin Nichols +/- Saturday - Brother Bluto - 01-06-2014 05:48 PM

We were up 17-12 with him on the court. Down 57-36 without.

im with you, I would give him at least 30 minutes a game. the more he plays the better he becomes short term and long term, like next year.

30 is too many right now....Pellom is a much better defender and rebounder right now....but yes, Nichols needs more minutes.

At halftime, neither Shaq or Crawford had scored and Geron had 2

why cant they both play at the same time?

RE: Austin Nichols +/- Saturday - Joe1 - 01-06-2014 06:27 PM

on top of that Austin doesn't get near enough touches, we don't really know what kind of offensive production he could produce because when he is in the game, which against ciny it was only 11, he doesn't get the ball. the guy has good hands and can turn and score in the post.

Sure they could.... my point is Pellom deserves more minutes than AN. AN doesn't rebound well right now and gets smoked on defense plenty. Sure he has great post moves, but he's a liability as well in areas. The good thing is that he will improve.

He still has to be strong enough to get position....and he's simply not right now against certain players.

From what I saw, it looked like Nichols was the only one playing defense. It's amazing how simple defense can be if you just stay in front of your man.

Just my opinion on the season as a whole so far. Nichols should've def played in the 2nd half Saturday.

well joshy isn't developing any of the freshman. which doesn't help you for this year and for certain he is shooting himself in the foot for next season because next season the bigs and forwards are our bread and butter. so, what im saying is this, folks can say they aren't ready or they aren't strong enough or they aren't this that or the other but they will never help you if they don't get quality playing time.

Yea, I've seen him struggle in some games but Saturday wasn't one of them. However, joe had a good first half but other than that the four guards sucked yet Nichols never saw the floor again.

Anyone who played in the second half will have a minus...

Tis what it Tis.

RE: Austin Nichols +/- Saturday - tigers0830 - 01-06-2014 07:21 PM

Folks you can dissect this game any way you want it. The result of the game had nothing to do with Dixon forcing things, Austin and King not playing a lot, and whatever you can come up with to make you feel better about it.

The game was lost because we just didn't play well period end of story.

oh, well, thank you and good night. that's all, everyone can get off the board now. we didn't play well. josh coached his butt off, but we didn't win because we didn't play well. ok

RE: Austin Nichols +/- Saturday - TigerBabbler - 01-06-2014 07:30 PM

If CJP benched Austin...should've benched Dixon too...kid was/is terrible...just for his addition at all all he does is take shots

Because they both play the "X" slot position....

Without looking up minutes, the trend seems to be to start Austin but really not play him much in the second half. That's how it feels anyways.

if that is the actual plan, then it makes NO sense what so ever to start a player then only end up giving him 11 minutes a game. I think he used to do that with Drew B. which was without question stupid, start a guy and he only plays 2 or 3 min total. Your starters are players that are going to end up getting major minutes, that's the way it is supposed to work.
