What are the head coaches in the Sun Belt paid? - GaSoEagle - 12-25-2013 11:11 AM

We are looking for a new head coach now and I was curious as to what the going price for Sun Belt head football coaches is. Our old coach, Jeff Monken made somewhere between $350,000 and $400,000.

I would assume we are going to have to increase that some.

HUD is at 850k reaching all incentives gets him close to a million. Plus vehicles and stuff like that.

Dennis Franchione makes $400k. 5 year contract that started last May.

How Dennis has fallen from his glory days at Alabama and A&M.

Coach Joey Jones earns $371k. I would expect him to get a salary increase from that after this season. That is the best number I could find for him.

Supposedly Army is paying Monken $800,000 -- 6 year contract. Incentives could push it over $1 million. I don't think we will be in that range but I suspect our new coach will see an increase over the roughly $375 Monken made.

I thought his contract extension put him in the 500-550 range.

Yup we got Fran on a deal. He may make puzzling choices but at least he's cheap compared to some. I'd venture to say he's a bargain. Coker at UTSA makes even less. I'm thinking after Fran's gone we need to be ready to pay 750k - 1M.

I think that unless we hire a promising position coach GS will have to be in the $500k range just to be competitive.

Larry Blakeney is paid 475k.... He's not going anywhere so we don't have to pay him very high.

Bobby pierce (baseball coach) just got a contract extension and a big pay increase. I don't know exact numbers here but he's is the highest paid baseball coach in the SBC.

Phil Cunningham (basketball coach) is paid around 240k I believe.

App State's Scott Satterfield’s contract is for four years, through the 2016 season, with an annual base salary of $225,000.

That would make him the lowest paid coach in FBS I believe.

That is his base salary. He makes over 400K when everything is added in, I think around 425-435 or so. I got that number last year when I requested it from the athletic department. I just can't remember exactly what it is offhand.

Here is the deal guys, you are going to have to pay your guy if he is successful. This will help keep away some of the better non BCS schools. If your guy is winning 8 or more games he is going to get looked at and paid a lot more than 500K. South will have to pay Jones more money regardless of what his current contract length is when he actually wins instead of coming close.

Some of you like Troy may be able to get a good coach and keep him if he is poison, or way past his prime value for moving up.

Larry wouldn't go anywhere even if he was offered 3million to go sec.... He's a Trojan through and through.

He's been at Troy since 1991. Numerous conference championships including 5 SBC championships and numerous play off wins and #1 rankings in FCS.

That's easy to say when he isn't on any BCS program's radar, don't you think?

ROFLMAO. Bro he is POISON, that is why you got him, why you get to keep him. IF he were not POISON why did he not get offered a big time job after all his success. For the love of God, it is not the Love of TROY.

He has had offers in the past.... Don't ask me who or when.
