Hawaii Bowl Question - blazerball25 - 12-09-2013 08:19 AM

Why was our CUSA bowl tie in with them left unfilled? With a 7-5 UTSA and 6-6 FAU left out in the cold?

Just goes to show that it UAB had somehow gone 6-6 this year we would have absolutely been screwed over.

I believe UTSA was not bowl eligible this season due to their transitional status.

I'd say they transitioned very well. 04-bow

Hawai'i was part of a 3 way deal to get a PAC12 team (Oregon State) to Hawai'i. In return MWC (UNLV) got Heart of Dallas and C-USA (MTSU) got Armed Forces. The conference did not lose a tie in; they just got Armed Forces in Ft Worth in place of Hawai'i.

This is correct. If there weren't enough bowl eligible teams, I believe a waiver could have been applied, but it wasn't an issue. FAU got screwed.

FAU didn't get screwed. CUSA just didn't have enough bowl slots available to get FAU into a game. It also didn't help that FAU finished 6-6 which meant that were at the bottom of consideration for a bowl game anyways.

WKU went 8-4 and didn't go.

7/8 Sun belt teams managed to get bowl eligible and they have 2 bowl slots.
