This doesn't really include UTSA because they never had to experience it, but for North Texas, MTSU, and FAU how does it feel to know that even though you didn't win the conference championship that you will still be bowling this year (hopefully FAU)?

I have said it many times, in 2003 we went 8-4 in the regular season and beat the #6 K-State team that went on to win the Big 12 and the Sugar bowl I believe it was. We finished second in the MAC East but only 3 MAC schools got bowl spots. We weren't one of them. Even though we have only been to 2 bowls in 8 years since joining C-USA we knew we had somewhere to go even at 6-6. Its a great feeling.

The bowl situation is a HUGE plus in CUSA's favor and looks to continue in 2014 with the addition of the new bowls. Look at the SBC right now they have 5 teams, (possibly 7) and only 2 are guranteed to go. That's a really big difference.

I hope FAU can go bowling but I'm not getting my hopes up. There is a surplus of teams and other then overcoming adversity FAU isnt a compelling story to a TV audience/network. Hoping the conference can pull something together.

You didn't include WKU as a newbie because we're not in CUSA yet but as a WKU fan, we can't wait to get to CUSA where there's a chance at a Bowl game each year. If we win our game today against ArkSt then WKU will be 8-4 and most likely sitting at home during Bowl season once again as a member of the SBC. We've been FBS for 5 years and this is our third straight winning season yet we've only been to one Bowl game and that was in Detroit during a blizzard.....and that Bowl was only made available because of a freak year in which several P5 schools were ineligible for post season play and LaTech screwed up their Bowl situation. Ugh.

You can only imagine how good it feels for us. 8-4 last year and no bowl compared to this year with (probably) the same record and already assured of a better bowl. All I can say is thank God for C-USA.

Surely you would vault over Arkansas State for the other SBC bowl slot if you beat them today. Believe it or not, I'm actually pulling for you guys today 03-wink

On paper yes but the uproar amongst SBC schools about that would be immense. ArkST will likely finish 2nd in the conference, has been to the GoDaddy in Mobile two straight years and had good attendence both times and WKU is leaving the SBC. Add all that up and WKU stays home this year.

The butt hurt would be great.

We are spamming the Godaddy and St Pete bowls emails and twitter. Sending a message loud and clear. It's still not basketball season yet.

WKU beat ASU tonight 34-31 with a game winning TD with 10 seconds to go. The SBC board is blowing up with ASU fans screaming foul about the officiating. WKU is now 8-4 and will most likely be sitting home during Bowl season. We've played our last SBC football game. Thank God!

Congrats on the win!

Was the officiating really that bad or are stAte fans just being cry babies?

6-6 might not be good enough for us to go bowling. In 2008 (our second straight bowl game), FAU did go bowling from SunBelt with a 6-6 record

I'm a little biased so you might not want to ask me but there were several calls on WKU's 99 yard winning TD drive that were controversial....against both WKU and ASU. ASU fans only see the calls on them.

You can watch the replay of the game on ESPN3. If you have it.

It feels good. Back in 1977, North Texas went 10-1, was ranked #16, and didn't get a bowl invitation. The bowl opportunities C-USA provides is just one of the many great advantages North Texas is enjoying.

North Texas set a new attendance record this season, averaging over 21,000 real fans a game. C-USA West has a great setup for the four Texas programs. After looking at the attendance numbers for SMU and Houston, their numbers are down this year. Houston's numbers are hard to read because they are playing off campus while their new stadium is being built. I think long term the C-USA Texas programs will consistently outdraw the two AAC Texas programs, and garner more media attention in our locations. You can count on UTEP to draw 27K to 32K a game. UTSA keeps holding steady around 30K. Rice had a nice crowd today, but just like SMU and Tulsa, they will always struggle with attendance. It's just tough for a small private school. North Texas will look to improve on their 21K next season.

Yes, I understand that, but I would imagine that you will have a lot better chance than you did in 2008. We were 6-6 in 2009 and 2011 and got in a bowl.
