B*tch Session: Bearcats Blog - JPBearcat3 - 10-15-2013 09:54 AM

So now that Paul Dehner, Jr. has migrated over to Bengals' coverage, I've noticed less and less blog posts from him on gobearcats.com - which is a shame because I really liked his stuff. And his Twitter feed used to be littered with UC stuff; now it's almost exclusively Bengals talk. I get it, though.

I've found myself going more and more to the Enquirer's blog, but I don't love their stuff either. And I check downthedrive.com as well.

But, I'm curious: where do you guys get your daily fix of UC info? I liked Paul's writing style and sense of humor. His podcasts were pretty cool too. Do I sound like we just broke up?

I'm not a member of any pay sites, and this thread wasn't started as an invitation to pimp out why someone should join a pay site - but there are probably valid reasons for checking out a pay site...

I have noticed less activity on the blog too. It seems like UC cooled down the blog after tragedy, might have started with the Munchie injury earlier this season. Either way it seems like GoBearcats.com is a whole lot more careful about what they post on the website these.

Losing Paul Dehner Jr really hurt -- he had great coverage, great writing, and was an official UC spokesperson. The blogs are good, but it is all unofficial and those guys don't have access to the players and coaches.

Hopefully UC will get someone else in to take up the reins from PD Jr.

What does C.Trent do in the Reds off season? Or is his beat an all year long thing? His UC stuff was good.

Bearcat Journal. Tough to beat Tim Adams' take on FB, and Chad Brendel's basketball discussion.

Bearcats Blog http://www.bearcatsblog.com/
Down the Drive http://www.downthedrive.com/
Cincy On The Prowl http://cincyontheprowl.com/

Three blogs I subscribe to on my RSS feeder. Maybe not as in depth/"insider" as BCL, but free and interesting reads on a daily basis.

Hey, thanks much for those links. I just setup a separate folder for the Cats so it'll make it much easier and nicer. I have question, and it's going to sound nuts. But what actually is a "RSS feeder"?

Better yet, put it this way, what actual purpose does it serve? I just started looking into the RSS thing and have "marked it" on a few of my fav pages. But how does it help me and in what situation? Thanks. I know I'm not the only one curious because I have been asked this myself.

Thanks for the tip. I was not aware of the Cincy on the Prowl site. Nice to have some additional good options for my Bearcat fix.

COTP replaced bearcats nation.

RE: B*tch Session: Bearcats Blog - CDS86 - 10-15-2013 06:13 PM

Sorry, should have said RSS "reader", not feeder... I use feedly (http://www.feedly.com) so I probably combined the two words.

RSS is a way to quickly link to articles on a website when they're posted. Probably not the best description, but... I use Feedly as my reader. I add in the URL for the RSS feed to my Feedly account (or as many feeds as you want - I have probably 30 between business, work, news, sports and other stuff I read on a daily basis), and all the links populate in one website. It lets you keep all the sites you read (mainly blogs/news resources) in ONE site versus having to check each one multiple times a day.

Did I muddy the waters more with that explanation?

i dont understand why people would pay for content. especially when there are several other great options.

Because that content is far better than the other options and there is way more content than the other options. This is especially true during fall camp. No one covering UC spends as much time around the coaches and players as Tim Adams. It has been that way for several years.

You're right. Like the Enquirer.

Nobody provides more inside info on UC than Tim and his guys.

UC247 is worth the annual fee imo

RE: B*tch Session: Bearcats Blog - chicago bearcat - 10-15-2013 09:27 PM

Yup at this point Tim Adams is the place to go if you're addicted to info about the Bearcats. The Enquirer is pathetic in comparison.

Tim & Chad. Chad & Tim.

Can't beat them no matter whose name is listed first.

BCL, well worth the price.

RE: B*tch Session: Bearcats Blog - CD11 - 10-16-2013 06:14 PM

Is there a way to add Cincy on the prowl to an rss reader? I can't find any way to do it either by searching via inoreader and feedly or by finding a link on the site itself. Would love to subscribe to it.
