Republicans need to forget about Obamacare - QuestionSocratic - 10-12-2013 08:56 AM

No more trying to get it delayed. No more votes to defund (at least for now.)

I think there was general assumption that if Obamacare got off the ground, it could never be overturned.

But now it is turning into a disaster. If anyone thinks that the problems will go away with time, they are sadly mistaken. If left alone, the program will still be a mess 5-10 years from now.

Therefore, the best strategy is to not delay the individual aspect since that would push implementation beyond the mid-terms. Let it run and when the program unravels, which it surely will since it is a government enterprise, then a year from now the Republicans can use it to gain the Senate and a stronger majority in the House.

The people who will get hurt the most vote Dem anyway. They voted in the Dems, so too freakin bad.

We all know thats whats going happening anyway.

The "shutdown" is temporary and likely about over. They may get a 1 year delay at best, but this mess will get funded and will sink the left in 2014 and 2016.

How are the people who get it for free going to be hurt. Obamacare = wealth redistribution. What is left of the middle class gets hammered.

The Obamacare standoff was just a springboard. Govt is still 83% shut down, Obama's approval is tanking and he is now being forced to compromise. Everything happens for a reason.

They get it for free now. Obamacare makes you get insurance.

They get it for free? Well what was the need for Obamacare? Payday for the insurance companies? Hang that around your liberal neck for 2014/2016. You own it.

Then why did they not just push for expanded Medicaid for the 30 million folks ACA is supposed to be addressing? Sure as schit would be less expensive and without adding another giant bureaucracy. Of course...that would go against the progressive gameplan of making damn near everyone tied to the government from cradle to grave.03-idea

If it hurt you try forgetting about it.

Obamacare is the Zima of Federal legislation.

Its legacy will be synonymous with the Eighteenth Amendment.

Eventually it will be like Social Security - it will be a disaster and people won't remember what party is to blame.

I suspect the exchanges will be functioning much better by the middle of November. If it is people will begin to like Obamacare like they like the Affordable Care Act. They might even realize that they are one in the same! Some people will be paying significantly more for coverage, but more will be getting coverage they could never afford before. This is going to work out much better than many expect, IMHO.

There will be more people without health insurance if Obamacareless goes into full tilt.
Only thing it is adding is millions and eventually trillions for health insurance subsidies for
some selected people while everyone else, and particularly the young, pay for their subsidies and insurance.

I think that will be the next step. Hillarycare.

That is kind of confusing. How will there be more people without insurance? The ACA will mean about 20-30 million uninsured people will be insured.

Politically, I'm not sure they would have been able to go from the current system straight to a single payer system. Obamacare is kinda like a bridge. People will start agreeing that it isn't working due to the insurance companies involvement and it would be better handled by the government like Medicare/Medicaid.
