Best/Favorite Album of all time? - gotigersgo111111 - 10-11-2013 08:32 PM

My favorite would be the who's albums, Who's next and Quadrophenia. What about you guys?

Thread title said favorite album, which is singular, then you picked two albums. I love both of those albums, but it will take some thought to narrow it down to one.

It is difficult to quantify a favorite album all time, but the album that has had the most longevity for me has been the Purple Rain soundtrack.

But I can play Notorious BIG's Life After Death to this day and have it feel as epic as ever.

But the duo of Embrya and Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite by Maxwell have always been winners when entertaining.

And who is Jill Scott is one of my all time faves too.

And recently, Kanye's Dark Fantasy instantly became one of my favorites of all time.

Followed oh so closely by the Rolling Stones Let It Bleed, and Beggars Banquet.

Led Zeppelin's first album

That was on my short list, and I've always thought it was their best album. I saw them here when they were touring to support that album.

Hard to beat Sgt. Peppers. That was on my extremely short list also.

Eagles Hotel California. Ask again tomorrow and I may answer differently.

Electric Ladyland

Van Halen first album.

Frampton Comes Alive. Who here didn't hang at Audubon Park with a cold beer and a fat doobie with that in their 8-track.

04-cheers Yep, that is my #2 favorite all-time! (Actually listened to "Do You Feel Like We Do" on satellite radio this morning.) Saw him at Hermitage Landing's floating stage on Percy Priest Lake here in Nashville back in '76.

Saw Frampton at Mud Island last year. Was kinda skeptical about going considering we have heard his songs too many times. It was a really good show and glad I went.

Frampton's best work was in humble pie.

Frampton's "do you feel" is absolutely one of the best songs ever. I've read in the past that he makes roughly $1 million a year just from that song alone.

Hard to argue with van halen's first album or Electric Ladyland or Hotel California. Awesome choices.

This was also in my top 5, and one of the greatest albums of all time. Good choice, for sure.

OK, when it comes to albums, "best" and "favorite" can be two completely different things. I'm going to attempt "favorite", but I'm not sure why because it constantly changes.

Bob Dylan - Blood On The Tracks
followed very closely by about 100 other albums including, Miles Davis - Kind Of Blue, Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here, Bob Marley - Babylon By Bus, Nick Drake - Pink Moon, Led Zeppelin I or Physical Graffiti, Gregg Allman - Laid Back, Rolling Stones - Let It Bleed and on and on...

Laid Back, Got on a bus in Memphis. Killer Album.

Yep, it's on my stuck-on-a-desert-island-with-only-25-albums list. It can stand up to lots of listening over a long period of time.
