I have no idea how SD pulled that out. Disaster averted!

Agreed. Phil and Jim kept b!tching about what a bad play call it was. You have Green one on one, it is NEVER a bad play call. It was just a crappy throw, period.

Pretty up and down day for Dalton. I think the first INT was just a great play by the cover man. The rest of them, he could have easily avoided.

But, he did a lot of good things today to make up for the turnovers. Scoring 27 offensive points despite four INTs is pretty damn good.

Have to agree. I didn't want to see Pittsburgh in the playoffs, especially opposite the Bengals.

Pick at the goalline was a pass-run call. Dalton called pass b/c A.J. was single covered. Gruden took blame for call, but bad decision by QB

Glad to hear that - I thought it was Gruden.

Just my opinion but that play is an option for 3rd down. You have too high percentage chance with a run on the one and fewe downsides. That guy cuts off that pass 8 inches further out in front and he is running towards the other end zone.

In my opinion it was the wrong call, a covered receiver and a ball thrown in the wrong spot.

Dalton had some great throws today and some really effing bad ones as well.

That debacle of a punt went in to my section, very close to me. I joked with my dad that I never expected to have a chance for a "foul ball" at an NFL FB game.

I think the Bengals play like sissies against the steelers, so I have to agree with you.

Although I have to wonder whether the Bengal players would be out for blood. If not, they would deserve to lose.

If we don't get them in the playoffs, Marvin needs to circle the next Steeler matchup as a "special incentive" game.

Sissies? I am recommending you to HR for sensitivity training.

HR bitchez around the country already have enough beefs with me.

Come to think of it that, what did you call it? "Sensitivity?" stuff might do me some good.

Here we go. Dalton is getting pressured and throwing it all over the place.

RE: Andy Dalton sucks - Coopdaddy67 - 01-05-2014 02:28 PM

Tate SUCKS. Go forward.

RE: Andy Dalton sucks - Coopdaddy67 - 01-05-2014 02:31 PM

Instead of running up and spiking the ball, they end up wasting 20+ seconds. Great job, Andy.

Tate. 3 returns for 6 yards, with about 75 east, west and south yards.

Why in the world would the NFL give Triplette a playoff game? He flat out admitted that he didn't even pay attention to the action before the goal line in the BJGE review against the Colts. This was a week after his crew couldn't even keep track of the downs at the end of the Giants-Redskins game. He's completely incompetent as a referee.

*Jeff Triplette emerges from camera area, calls it a ground-rule double.*

Dalton's pass protection is going to get him killed today. He's taken quite a few blindside hits.

Same old Andy, here we go:
12-17 = 71%
164 yards
1 TD
0 INT
120 QB Rating
Bengals winning.
same old negative posts.....

fingers crossed for the 2nd half

Last time I pointed out the positives it resulted in a bunch of INT's. Let's just keep saying he sucks! 03-wink

Stats can't account for mental mistakes, especially when they occur pre-snap. They wasted a lot of time and it nearly cost them any opportunity at points. The could have had another shot or two at the endzone too.

Yeah maybe I shouldn't have risked jinxing anything - not that I think or implied this game is anywhere near over. I just get so tired of the (almost exclusively negative) over-reactions. UC game threads are pretty much unbearable that way.

RE: Andy Dalton sucks - Coopdaddy67 - 01-05-2014 03:03 PM

Dre did a great job jamming himself at the line.

RE: Andy Dalton sucks - Bearcat04 - 01-05-2014 03:06 PM

SD's patchwork OL is winning this game.

RE: Andy Dalton sucks - Bearcat04 - 01-05-2014 03:10 PM

Dalton has no time to do anything. SD is one of the worst teams in the NFL at defending the pass and they've looked like Seattle in 6+ quarters against the Bengals.

RE: Andy Dalton sucks - Coopdaddy67 - 01-05-2014 03:10 PM

That was even better than not throwing the ball away and taking a sack.
