Owens Update? - pono - 09-14-2013 07:54 PM

Anyone got insight on the extent of Owens leg injury? He took a hell of a hit but I haven't heard what it actually is.

Possible knee injury. Won't know till maybe tomorrow.

UT's QB coach said he was okay in the post game interview. Clearly he went to the Tom Amstutz school of commentary.

I'm wondering why Flu was absent most of the 4th quarter.

RE: Owens Update? - CharlottesvilleRocket - 09-14-2013 10:19 PM

It's an ACL, possible MCL until proven otherwise.

Saw on twitter Campbell said not major, no tear. May miss some time.

Huh? That's the stupidest reasoning ever.

I guess we'll just assume that Flu has a broken leg, until proven otherwise, since he didn't play at the end of the game.

3 tweets from Ryan.

Quote:No further Owens updates until Monday. Team not expected to release anything tomorrow.

Quote:Campbell said receiver Dwight Macon, who began his career at QB, will back up Woodside if Owens can't go.

Quote:Campbell revealed Owens missed time in fall camp with sore arm, giving way for Woodside to take first-team reps.

I'm guessing Woodside's shoulder is OK. He was hurting after one series and didn't throw much when he went back in, although throwing didn't seem warranted by then. Julian seems a sure bet to RS.

RE: Owens Update? - pono - 09-15-2013 04:51 AM

hopefully, not serious. was a hard hit at the thinnest part of his rather thin frame.

if so, may be a blessing in disguise if woodside gets a game or two to get his legs and then is ready to go if owens goes down again.

News this morn. says a dislocated knee cap. Out for a while but not done for season.

RE: Owens Update? - MotoRocket - 09-15-2013 07:44 AM

I saw a guy do that in a junior varsity basketball game when I was in high school. Looks nasty and is painful, but is something that you can recover from rather quickly. I would expect him to miss 2-3 games, maybe only 1 game. I highly doubt he will be ready for CMU. Will also need to be wearing a brace - probably for the rest of the season, but should not have to be one of those big, bulky ones. Hopefully he did not stretch any of the tendons or ligaments with that injury or damage the cartilage under the knee cap.

Well, crap. Let's hope our trainers have him on the fast track to get back out onto the field.

Why exactly do you need a knee cap to run? It just floats there. They should remove it so it's not in the way. Put it back in after the season if he's worried about his beach look.

RE: Owens Update? - tolfbfan - 09-15-2013 10:50 AM

Knee cap dislocation not needing surgery can be quick return. Unluckily, my family had member who had really bad dislocation requiring surgery and it was a 8-9 week rehab. Just trying to give some perspective.

Well, here's to a speedy recovery. Given how bad Central is this year, Toledo can afford to have him rest.

RE: Owens Update? - 7 - 09-15-2013 05:40 PM

Harnish dislocated his kneecap vs. Toledo in 2009. Missed a little under a month.
