Absolutely...I feel like Michigan had a little help on their side the last minute. Not putting the time back on the clock (i know it didn't matter because they called it 3rd down and half a yard...which was questionable) to the no call on that hold.

I would have love to see Akron win that game...so at least we could have a homecoming game against "Akron, who just beat Michigan". Now we play "Akron"

That was blatant defensive holding on the last play.

The ball was released really fast, so I'm not sure. If the ball was remotely near the the receiver, I wonder if there might have been a pass interference call.

The receiver was blatantly held at the line of scrimmage. He could't get off the line.

Not a bad day when THE worst team in the MAC plays the best in the Big 10 even. Congrats to Akron, good fight.

Dumb coaching!!!

A loss is a loss

They ran 2 in the last 15 seconds, what are you talking about? They also got screwed out of like 9 seconds for no apparent reason.

2 in 15 and lost 9 seconds because of review (clock doesn't stop unless 1st down)

As long as there are 100,000 Michigan fans in the stadium, that will never be called.

Here is to another 1 win season for Akron!!!

Thanks for making the MAC bad again!! U had a chance to make up for the past years!!

RE: Akron & WIU hanging tough - PeoriaHuskie11 - 09-14-2013 02:35 PM

If they had hit the field goal earlier in the game, they would have only needed a fg to win...

Also the time ended up not mattering. They used all 4 downs.

Too bad though, really wanted Akron to win.

Bizarre day. Akron hangs with Michigan while Indiana is just destroying Bowling Green.

I trust you didnt see the Akron/Michigan game lol

RE: Akron & WIU hanging tough - BobL - 09-14-2013 02:38 PM

Big Ten had to win big today and they are coming up way short...best win so far is the Indiana BG game.

UCLA slams Nebraska, Minny struggles for 3 quarters against FCS and Michigan easily could have lost to Akron.

I wish I felt like the MAC was getting better, but I think the Big Ten is just absolute garbage now. Compared to a decade ago, anyways.

Actually I did a loss is a loss

2 years in a row 1 win

This year

They played close that's it

Barely beat a FCS and got killed by UCF

Here's to Akron only winning 1 game most I can see is 2

It's pretty bad. Most teams don't have a QB and I'm not sold on most of the coaching staffs.

Other than Ohio State (which of course cheats better than ever, somehow), there isn't a real top of the line team, I don't think.

Agreed, and they're without Miller right now. I think Michigan will get there in the next couple years, but other than that I don't see a top team emerging. Nebraska is just kind of stuck now, I think Pelini is mediocre.

We made strides last year, but so far only NIU has a OOC AQ win.

Was the spot challenged by MI? You can challenge any time? Maybe I missed it, but it wasn't explained. If so they were smart. If there was any question, Akron should have snapped the ball and spiked it immediately to make it 2nd down. Lot of chaos going on.

If not, why would the refs wait to challenge the spot? How can they?

RE: Akron & WIU hanging tough - toddjnsn - 09-14-2013 03:04 PM

Yeah, the B10 -- or as my dad calls it, the Big MAC, isn't all that awesome. Who are dominant teams?

Ohio State so far, but not enough to buy into them being a top 5 by end of season. To be a dominant team, you can play hung over and still beat Purdue by 21.

Top 3:
- Ohio State
- Wisconsin
- Northwestern

- Michigan
- Illinois
- Indiana
- Penn State

- Michigan State
- Nebraska
- Minnesota
- Iowa
- Purdue

I think any team can beat another, with the exception of Purdue. Illinois & Indiana are real teams this year (both lacking D though). Minnesota, IMO, is going to be feisty... Iowa has an offense this year, so they're improved.

I think the B10 are just big-timer-less. Ohio State, NW, and Wisconsin are the best. Michigan is too wonky to be a solid team, but IMO, they could beat any Top 10-25 team, but lose to them too.

The B10 is better in a way -- less horrible teams. Namely Indiana & Illinois being decent teams, and Iowa & Minnesota improving. Purdue's the only stinky shoe.

Agreed. To make the push for a National Championship type season they need another coach.

Akron has a good coaching staff, Terry Bowdon has done well everywhere is has been, Chuck Amato is another proven winner. They will be a force in 2-3 years.
