Remaining Undefeated Teams (after week 1) - ohio1317 - 09-03-2013 11:22 PM I started posting this thread on this board last year, but have been putting it up elsewhere for number of years. For the first several weeks of the season, it will look at the remaining undefeated teams and as the list narrows start to break them down a bit more. After awhile, it will expand to look at the 1 loss and winless teams too. Teams with 1st loss week 1: Akron UNLV Tulsa Connecticut South Alabama North Carolina Utah State Vanderbilt Rutgers Hawaii Western Michigan Florida Atlantic Southern Methodist Kansas State Buffalo Massachusetts Purdue Toledo Florida International Louisiana Tech Rice Temple Central Michigan Mississippi State Syracuse Brigham Young Iowa Louisiana-Lafayette Virginia Tech Oregon State Washington State South Florida Louisiana-Monroe Idaho Miami (OH) Southern Miss UAB Kentucky Iowa State New Mexico New Mexico State Wyoming San Diego State Georgia TCU Nevada Boise State California Ohio U. Colorado State Pittsburgh Week 1 Thoughts: This year felt very interesting for a week 1 to me. We had a record 8 I-AA (FCS) teams beat I-A (FBS) teams. This is quite relevant to the season as a whole as a few of those losses could easily be the difference between bowl eligibility and non for a few teams. It also goes to show just how much parity there is across most of college football. The other thing that's big to look for in this final year of the BCS are the undefeated non-AQ teams. If there is an undefeated team from one of the 4 non-AQ conferences. they'll probably be in the BCS. Last year we had a 1 loss MAC champ even make it in. (Note: The American is AQ this year, but will not have a bowl tie with the CFP next year). We saw a lot with the week 1 results. Everyone's first choice, Boise State, got drilled by Washington will probably not be in any BCS bowl this year. The Mountain West as a whole had a disaster of first week, but Fresno State beat Rutgers and is probably going to be the team to watch the rest of the way from that conference. Week 2 Thoughts: If I counted right, we have 17 games next week between two undefeated I-A teams. Traditionally (well since I've been doing this) week 2 has closer to the same number of first losses compared to week 1 than you'd expect, but I think that will likely be different this year thanks to all the 1-AA losses. Remaining Undefeated Teams: ACC: 11, American Athletic: 5, Big 12: 7, Big Ten: 10, Conference USA: 7, MAC: 5, Mountain West: 3, PAC-12: 9, SEC: 10, Sun Belt: 4, independents: 3, total: 73 Boston College Clemson Florida State Maryland North Carolina State Wake Forest Duke Georgia Tech Miami (FL) Virginia Baylor Kansas Oklahoma Oklahoma State Texas Texas Tech West Virginia Cincinnati Louisville Michigan Michigan State Minnesota Nebraska Northwestern Illinois Indiana Ohio State Penn State Wisconsin East Carolina Marshall Memphis Central Florida Houston Tulane UTEP Bowling Green Kent State Ball State Eastern Michigan Northern Illinois Air Force Fresno State Oregon Stanford Washington Arizona Arizona State Colorado UCLA USC Utah Florida Missouri South Carolina Tennessee Alabama Arkansas Auburn LSU Ole Miss Texas A&M Arkansas State Middle Tennessee North Texas Troy Western Kentucky San Jose State Texas State UTSA Army Navy Notre Dame RE: Remaining Undefeated Teams (after week 1) - ohio1317 - 09-03-2013 11:24 PM Reposting since original post will be updated.
