OHIO FB: Sold out for the season? - Kittonhead - 08-15-2013 05:06 PM

Quote:Wow, I looked to check this out and there certainly aren't many seats available. Still 3+ weeks to go until the first home game too.

The rumor I've been hearing is that North Texas may be the first game in a loooong time (maybe, ever?) to sell out in advance of gameday. If so, that will be unbelievable.

Quote:The Marshall game will definately be an advanced sellout so people should buy now

Quote:I think each of the five Saturday home games could be sellouts as they all have compelling factors surrounding them:

-North Texas. Home opener, and if we beat Louisville, kiss da baby!
-Marshall. Duh.
Austin Peay. Parents weekend, and we just missed selling out the parents weekend game last year against an FCS team.
CMU. Homecoming
Miami. I'm able to confirm what the Optimist said weeks ago that the Miami-Halloween pairing created a lot of buzz on social media.

Not bad for a team that was 4-4 in the MAC last season....

Are season tickets through the roof at Central Michigan? They went 4-4 in the MAC an won their bowl game last year so I should expect a similar 47% increase like Ohio.

Quote:ATHENS, Ohio - As the 2013 season approaches, Ohio Football season ticket sales have increased over 47%, with sellout demand imminent in several categories.

http://www.ohiobobcats.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/081313aab.html

This is after setting the MAC revenue record last year with FB/BB tickets and raising game day prices for 2013.

The only way to explain this is the most simple answer.....the fanbase is growing. That is all there is to it. People now are getting pushed into season tickets to guarantee a seat for homecoming.

Flagship.

RE: OHIO FB: Sold out for the season? - Kittonhead - 08-15-2013 05:38 PM

Quote:To purchase your football season tickets, click here or call 800-575-2287. Please be aware that sellout demand is anticipated in the Bobcat Family Package (75 remaining), Premium Family Package (90 remaining), Phillips Club (8 remaining) and Touchdown Club (4 remaining).

In just those 4 sections, how many season tickets is that?

Family Package (2500)
Premium Family Package (1000)
Phillips Club (800)
Touchdown Club (100)

Out of those 5 sections you have 4233 out of 4400 sold......

5 Saturday home games. I bought season tickets and will be making the 3ish hour drive from Cleveland for those. Very excited.

If there was going to be a year to set the program attendance record, 5 Saturday home games + Miami-Marshall should do it.

The question is can Ohio get 20k for Kent State and UMass mid week? It might happen this year with the season ticket sales buoying numbers.

RE: OHIO FB: Sold out for the season? - Kittonhead - 08-15-2013 06:33 PM

Ohio Countdown To SELLOUT...8/15

Tickets Remaining:

North Texas 1581
Marshall 2072
Austin Peay 5019
Central Michigan 3846
Miami 3551
Kent State 5298
Massachusetts 5287

From the looks of it right now about 16,500 season+student tickets have been sold.

The student set aside is 6500 with the student average last year 5900 (including mid week games). If the students can turn out big all Saturday games will be sold out.

Kent State will probably hit 20,000 as a big MAC game with the students in town. UMass as a Black Friday game will be the most challenging to sell out. 17,500 for Black Friday would be good progress.

Why is there a Miami-Marshall game being played in Athens?

As a way to help Miami stay above the 15,000 attendance rule....

The 2 MAC Saturday home games are Homecoming and Halloween. If the team's record is like I expect it to be, those will be epic crowds.

It is becoming crystal clear that Ohio is the MAC's flagship program.

Please regale us with the stories of all your championships. Or, you know, anything that you've done that's been relevant in football recently.

But hey, congrats on the highest revenue title last year. You guys can go hang out with Toledo who gets to celebrate all their recruiting titles.

Here is the same update from DeKalb:

Eastern Illinois - 5
Akron - 2
DeKalb High - SOLD OUT
Western Michigan - moving game to Soldier Field to accommodate demand
Ball State - game cancelled. DeKalb can't handle the sea of people expected

I'm sorry that Ohio College is struggling with ticket sales.

Ohio has made "Best Fans in the MAC" a thing...check out the logo on the OhioBobcats.com splash page: http://www.ohiobobcats.com/

In other news, I have no idea where he's getting some of these numbers. But I do know that season ticket sales are way up and that we'll probably have 4/5 sellouts. No chance in you-know-where we sell out the Tuesday or Black Friday games...but we may get 20K+.

RE: OHIO FB: Sold out for the season? - OhioBobcatJohn - 08-16-2013 03:44 AM

I think many fans get the feeling Ohio is going to be scoring a bunch with this offense. Lots of talk that this could be the highest scoring team in school history with the weapons and ability to run and throw it at will if everybody stays healthy. Senior QB with lots of experienced targets and four really good backs with power in short yardage and speed to take it to the house at any time. Tettleton's ability to run and pass makes him a special weapons. Ohio wins if they don't turn the ball over several times in a game. Ohio is going to move the ball and wear teams down in the second of games with the fresh backs they have vs tired MAC defenses that will have been on the field a lot against the Ohio offense.
