UMass in the top 50? Heck, that means we would be top 40.

No. Nice thought, but afraid not. Do you see UVA anywhere on this list? Or W&M?

The universities on this particular list (and it's been around awhile and is well reagrded) use metrics that JMU (and UVA) don't come close to touching, and we likely never will.

What's a little eye-opening is how high UCLA is rated...above Michigan, Illinois and Texas. But like any of these lists, the publishers thoughts and a $1.25 get you a Dr. Pepper.

I was joking, LH. 04-cheers This ranking is quite odd.

UMass in the top 50 is still laughable.

It's based on reputation from academics, if you read the methodology, you see how terrible it is as a ranking system. The only sure thing we get from it is a list of the best 20 or so schools in the world, and any idiot can tell you that Harvard, Cambridge and MIT are great schools.

It's also international, so schools like Brown and Dartmouth aren't going to rank highly as although they're multi-faculty universities, they're not exactly research powerhouses with international reputations.
