Ticket Availability for Purdue Game - BearcatsUC - 07-26-2013 04:19 PM

This afternoon, I bought a couple extra tickets for the Aug 31 Purdue game. While I know this isn't a true measure of how many tickets are really available, I used the "pick your seat" option and scanned the stadium for what was available.

While there are still "plenty" of tickets available using this option, I'd say it's only a thousand or two. Maybe it isn't that much.

Just hope it's not overloaded with Purdue fans.

Why doesn't UC buy a tv commercial? If they have one I sure as hell have not seen it.

Seems like some advertising before the season starts would be a good thing.

Will probably see something by mid-August. They may wait to see if it's a sellout without the advertising.

RE: Ticket Availability for Purdue Game - bearcatlawjd - 07-26-2013 06:44 PM

Honestly I expect to see around 27,000 Bearcat fans and 8,000 Purdue fans at the game because they probably grabbed a bunch of seat before our fair weather crowd jumps in.

If it was a night game, I'd bet big $ on a sellout. With a noon start, I'd be surprised if it sells out.

The game against Purdue sold out the last time they came to town, and that was during the Minter era. And, yes, it was about half Purdue fans.

I was there for that one. Great atmosphere, but you're right...about half and half. And that stupid late substitution penalty.

I don't think it will be that bad this time. 02-13-banana I expect about 5,000-7,000 Purdue. Purdue has fallen from grace since then, I believe that they were a season removed from a Rose Bowl the last time we played. As always winning helps attendance and helps traveling fans too.

RE: Ticket Availability for Purdue Game - True Bearcat - 07-26-2013 08:14 PM

I love night games as much as the next guy, but we need to quit using the start time as a reason to go or not togo or a reason we don't sell out.

Advertising? Advertising? (in a Jim Mora rant)

C'mon man. They announced the game via email. And then there will be a little social media posting in a month. Maybe one billboard off Norwood lateral, but nothing outside I-275. Those fans don't exist...I've been told.

It was also a day game, on a sunny, hot afternoon.

You won't see 8,000 purdue fans. This isn't 2001, when they were coming off of a Rose Bowl season. I did hear that they sold out their allotment though.

Maybe closer to 5,000 but I expect a nice mix of fans and a sellout.

I'd be surprised if the visiting team allocation exceeds 2,000 tickets @ Nippert. Anyone know? Clearly, both teams have gone different directions since the last matchup here so I don't think we can base attendance expectations on that experience. I would expect (hope) no more than 5,000 PU fans in a sold out Nippert. If UC can't sell this one out against a regional B10 opponent in warm weather...in our final BCS season, we've got bigger worries than our future in the American.
