The MAC Player of the Year Jason Kanzler was selected today in the 20th round by the Minnesota Twins.

Northern Illinois first baseman Jeff Zimmerman has been selected by the Seattle Mariners in the 19th round (567th pick) of the 2013 Major League Baseball...

Here's what I got:

108 P Skulina (Kent State)
122 P Williams (Kent State)
567 1B Jeffrey Zimmerman (NIU)
579 P Dylan Rheault (CMU)
590 CF Jason Kanzler (Buffalo)
645 P Eric Dorsch (Kent State)
674 2B Derek Toadvine (Kent State)
780 1B George Roberts (Kent State)
1105 P Brett Barber (Ohio)

Not sure if I caught everyone. Honestly, I am a little surprised that Skulina and Williams went that high, but Skulina pitched better than his ERA and Williams had a pretty awesome K/BB ratio and played against some top competition (I heard him striking out the #2 pick from San Diego this season got him moved way up the charts).

Otherwise, a lot of the MAC's best have something to offer, but flaws that they will need to overcome to have successful pro careers. I am interested to see if Roberts get moved to the left on the defensive spectrum, because the kid has an arm, but Kent never used it. I find Kanzler interesting if he can stick with CF and keep his power with the wooden bat.

Williams struck that kid out 3x. Between the 4th round $$ and the coach leaving its a given neither him or Skulina will return.

Williams and Skulina would be looking at bonuses in the $500K range. Given that their only other choice is to go back to college and give up all leverage for bonuses next year, I'd say that the smart move is to take the money. I bet David Starn didn't get anywhere near the $150K recommended bonus for his signing.

You can always complete the education later with that kind of scratch in the bank.

I'm surprised that Losby from BG didn't get picked. He is a junior, right? Kind of like David Lyon a couple of years ago.

I believe I saw that the slots were like $477K for Skulina and $422K for Williams.

Do you have a source for the 2013 recommended bonuses? I think what you gave in the 2012 and I believe it has gone up fairly significantly (like double digit percentage).

I can't find the link I saw previously, surfing the net on a cellphone will do that. Here is an article on a guy taken after Williams and he's slotted for $393,500

And another guy taken several picks before Williams is slotted for $433,300

Yeah, you can get it here:

Williams $417,000

Not too bad. I guess I was wrong because I thought the top pick from Houston was slotted for $9M, but it says it's only $7.79M on that site.

"Western Michigan baseball signee Daniel Ayers was drafted in the 25th round, pick 759, by the Baltimore Orioles in this weekend's Major League Baseball draft.

This is the third-straight season Western Michigan has had a player/signee called in the MLB draft, and the Broncos have had eight MLB picks in the last six years. It is the second straight year an incoming recruit under head coach Billy Gernon has heard his name called. Sophomore catcher Brett Sunde was chosen in by the Oakland Athletics in the 35th round last year."
