who will the cusa pick? - trueeagle98 - 05-20-2013 08:31 PM

This does impact the sbc.
UL and stAte think they are next, but what are the other possibilities?
People keep mentioning that JMU is an option. How upset would Cajun fans be if JMU is picked over them? 03-hissyfit
Just wondering what people think the most likely scenario is between the 2 conferences.

I'd like to see the sbc go to 14/14 for stability reasons. With 2 football only and 2 non-football. But will be exstatic to simply be at 12 football members.

Really don't care what CUSA does as long as it stops poaching schools from the SBC. Unless its Southern. 04-cheers

I think it would be schools in the western C-USA region. Not another east school.

I don't think they are expanding and will only move to replace. Who they might replace with will depend on who they might lose. I think it is fairly pointless to spend too much time thinking about it at this point. I doubt anything happens this year now.

I can't speak for Cajun fans, but I'd be happy if CUSA added JMU instead of stAte. We are exactly where we need to be. I wish we could have hung on to WKU, but hopefully we'll add Missouri St to replace them.

Three of us sure jumped on this thread fast though.

I'm
Sick of Cusa crap on here... Moving this thread.

RE: who will the cusa pick? - trueeagle98 - 05-20-2013 08:47 PM

The reason i asked was to get a better idea what the likelyhood was of losing more members before reaching the 12 team goal.
I'd love it if no one else left, except Idaho, and we added jmu and msu.

We are losing no one. There's your answer.

I wonder if they lost 2 members if they would even bother to replace. Naturally, it depends on who they lost, they might backfill to "re-even" out the divisions, but past that, I could see them standing pat otherwise.

Noticed no UL fans have responded. They mostly, not all, insist they are next and CUSA will expand to even out divisions. But the rest think the cycle is over for now

CUSA will not make another run at the SBC. I think they'll grab JMU.

Thank you for thinking for us.

We'll keep our own counsel on these matters.

I guess this goes to the same misperception of others. Georgia Southern is a perfect fit for the Sun Belt East geographically and otherwise.

FIU, FAU, UAB, UNCC, ODU, Marshall is not better than Troy, App, GaSt, USA, (JMU, UTC, Jax St).

No, only the uninformed!

I was really just joking about the invite. Overall I like the SBC and the only thing i would hope for is a better tv deal and better/ more bowl tie-ins. The CUSA is a wash when you look at the actual teams compared to the SBC.

As soon as the media and bowl things are worked out, we're going to see more
and more poster comments over the next few years of wished we had stayed in the SBC.
But few would say that so soon.

GoApps70, at least we are out of the SOCON. Talk about not being with your peers or a sinking ship. Even Elon bailed. Ughh, that conference lost the best football, basketball, and baseball teams in just one year. 04-jawdrop

Can't wait till 2014. Until then just have to be content with going 11-0 this year. 04-rock
