As the Sun Belt turns. - Libertygrad01 - 04-17-2013 08:07 PM

Some interesting developments in the past few hours. Our beat writer is tweeting that he's hearing very different things.

Another interesting find is the link below where UL-M fired their AD. With a budget of $8,000,000 they rank lower than a majority of FCS schools and some predict they may have to move from FBS.

Fuel To The Fire

ULM is not dropping down. It would kill their athletic program.

ULM isn't going anywhere...

Get the *bleep* out of here with your ULM talk. We ousted the AD because it has been around 9 years and no capital plans have been advanced. It is time for a change. Nothing more and nothing less...

The state of Louisiana allows each school to transfer 3% of their general fund to athletics (includes money from the state).. This will come to an end in the near future. This will put them under 6 mil.
You cannot run a 1A athletic program with 6 mil.
Our state is fighting budget issues just like everyone else. They will not get any help.
At this time, they will have NO choice but to move down to 1AA

It is a reality.

That's what I was thinking.

"K.C. Spiron @SpironNOTW
@DSordelettLNA FYI! I think we may be talking about 2 diff things. I was talking about Bobcat report saying LU is a NO for SBC. Damien Sordelett @DSordelettLNA
@SpironNOTW Yeah, we're talking about the same thing. I have something to repute report, but can't publicly say what it is.4:51 PM - 17 Apr 2013from Lynchburg, VA, United States"

Anyone that doesn't know the difference between "refute" and "repute" deserves some scrutiny in my humble opinion. Brent's tweets on SBC expansion have turned out to be very accurate as of late and I think I will trust his information until proven otherwise.

You obviously have NO reading comprehension. Do you think Troy could attain 1A status on a 6 million dollar budget? Everyone but LSU will feel it. Tech will feel it, so will we. UL's budget will be 20 mil at the end of 13'.. If it comes down in 14', we will feel it but will survive.. ULM wont be so lucky. If they are going to stay a viable academic University, something will have to give. Dont tell me I dont know what I am talking about and do NOT tell me I am out of my mind.

At 6 million they may not have a choice. Unless they drop all sports except football and the counter balancing Title IX women's programs. Maybe they should get some of the Duck Commander guys involved

It must have been a boring night over on the Liberty boards. A sudden Liberty assault on the Sun Belt board. Yep...boring night.
