Good preview.

Quote:Assuming losses to Texas A&M and Tulsa, it would then take an upset for them to finish worse than 10-2. We'll set the bar at 9-3, but wow, does this team, with this experience and this schedule, have a chance to have a lovely season.

I agree with this. Personally cannot see any reason why we cannot beat Tulsa though. 10-2 with a game in either direction.

Very good, detailed, and pretty accurate write-up.
And puts the monkey squarely on our back.

I can only assume that this person reads the Parliament.

He's one of the better (and better known) SB Nation writers. Has developed advanced statistics for football akin the ones now more prevalent in baseball.

These are his blogs:

For once, it seems somebody has actually put some thought and some work into a preview.

Two things surprised me:

1. that our pass rush was so good, and
2. Gaines was a 2-star?

If we'd like to see more of this type coverage in the future, I'd recommend leaving a comment.

An 800 kg Gorilla is now sitting squarely on the back of Bailiff.

Pretty sure it was already there.

Other than the fact that we haven't under Bailiff in 6 tries?

That is meaningless for the next game. Ever flip tails six times in a row? Does that mean we cannot flip heads on the next try?

Streaks are made to be broken. Winning streaks, losing streaks, hitting steaks, consecutive free throws, whatever. I see no reason we can't break this one too.

This.

We need to stop treating Tulsa like they are a great team; they are good, but not that good. We should have beaten them last year and we should beat them next year.

OptimisticOwl lives up to his name.

Not optimistic, just realistic. Only somebody bound by superstition would think 0-6 meant we had no chance.

Didn't we break a much longer streak of some sort in 2006?

I know we broke a long streak in 1997, when we went to the CWS after having failing to make it EVER.

Antarius is right. Way too many people here are writing off this game before the teams even play a down this year. Bunch of quitters. Giving it up without a fight. Go tell the players they might as well stay home that day, because there is a streak. See what they say.
