Question for former/current CAAZone folks - georgia_tech_swagger - 03-26-2013 06:27 PM

Isn't that site ran by a George Mason fan?

I'd be happy to setup mods from boards over there as mods of the same boards over here. It tends to be a dead end when a conference site is ran by a fan of a team that leaves the conference. We've grown quite a bit from similar circumstances (CUSA from TCU leaving to the MWC. CUSA and Big East from Charlotte leaving to A10. ASun from UCF leaving to CUSA. etc).

RE: Question for former/current CAAZone folks - hburg - 03-26-2013 06:29 PM

Yes it is. They'll come over eventually. They will almost have to. I will bump the message board thread over there again. But they will come over eventually.

RE: Question for former/current CAAZone folks - Monarch_Pride - 03-26-2013 06:38 PM

Yes, ZoneAdmin is a George Mason fan.

I think most of us ODU people have enjoyed this site much more than CAAZone. Trolls from other schools are a non-issue. I expect that JMU fans will migrate here eventually. I think they will find they like it better here, as well.

RE: Question for former/current CAAZone folks - hburg - 03-26-2013 06:40 PM

Yeah, this is a much better site than the zone. I wish they would migrate sooner.

RE: Question for former/current CAAZone folks - BeliefBlazer - 03-26-2013 06:41 PM

JMU fans will all be here as soon as they get their Belt invitation.

RE: Question for former/current CAAZone folks - monarchman - 03-26-2013 07:34 PM

CAAZone is the worst ran message board I've ever seen. Really, ANYTHING goes there, anything. It's amazing the lengths people have gone in the past to prove a "point." This place is well ran and well moderated, and very refreshing.

I'm surprised JMU fans still post there in the capacity they do. It's really not a good place to talk sports.

RE: Question for former/current CAAZone folks - devyanks90 - 03-26-2013 07:35 PM

you'll find that some schools mods (ODU being an example) left long ago.

Since I have family that will be attending JMU in the fall and therefore have some interest in them doing well, I will be really happy if they consolidate here. CSNbbs is way better than the zone.

I moved to MonarchNation several years ago and enjoyed not seeing the Zone trolls. After the CUSA invite I moved immediately to CSNBBS to enjoy both. I don't miss the CAAZone at all.

O D U! O D U! O D U!

I think there will be a quick JMU migration away from the CAAzone. I can't speak for others but I expect 18 months of talking about admin this and that is killing everyone on both sides the fence.

I don't think some will come here until forced to do so, but it's nice to see a few more coming this week with hburg reminding people and the admin's new words. I think some fans are more than ready to move on and gmu was the last straw. I'm honestly surprised it was gmu of all teams that finally motivated some fans. I guess the older fans have more bball history and mason is a big part of that.
For me, when odu left last April, I was very much done way back then.

Georgia_Tech_Swagger when you get the chance check out the JMU Message Board thread on JMU zone.

Maybe Hburg should be the one urging others to come to this board. A few weeks back I got into it with one of them and was told that I am in the running for "worst poster" with, it might have been you but I'm not certain.03-lmfao

Many run in packs and will only move together.

Works good, welcome aboard.

RE: Question for former/current CAAZone folks - JMUDuke25 - 03-27-2013 01:30 PM

I think to get more fans here you gotta drop the ban on "free" email addresses. Everyone uses gmail or yahoo these days, right?

I read/post at CAAZone because that's where the most traffic for JMU is. Not because of any tie to the CAA conference. It will be like herding cats to move from one board to another.

They'll come eventually, hopefully. Just have to get the email thing worked out and of course have the board be more personalized to JMU.

Facebook accounts come with an @facebook.com email address. The admin team does allow those to be used here and most people have a Facebook account.

RE: Question for former/current CAAZone folks - hburg - 03-27-2013 01:46 PM

Thanks for the information. BeliefBlazer, I agree with 25, it is like herding cats, many have a special place in their heart for the zone and it is just extremely hard to break that bond. It is like letting go of something that has been a part of you for so long. I can understand that. But the board is run by Mason fans who just moved over to the A10. We will not be in the CAA for long, unless we get a football only invite. Either way, I am hoping more come over, this is a very good board.

Good info. Didn't think of that. I finally got setup with my JMU alumni email that I didn't even realize I had and now just forward that to my yahoo account.
