RE: The 2013 Mr. Basketball debate: Who can win and why - BlazerPhil - 03-07-2013 10:13 AM I wonder if Derunnya Wilson was recruited to play both Football and Basketball for UAB ? RE: The 2013 Mr. Basketball debate: Who can win and why - the_blazerman - 03-07-2013 10:19 AM I don't think so, but who is to say that he couldn't walk on the basketball team? The scholarship would more than likely count against football & not basketball. If I recall that correctly. While a good player on the court, he may be a few inches shorter than the position he would play is used to. Here is Sentell's comments: Why he might not win: See the case for Coleman. Coleman will likely take some votes from Wilson. The 6-foot-6 Wilson can bring it up the floor, but he’s seen as more of a great athlete and a tireless competitor than a skilled basketball player. He’s not as flashy as Coleman or Langford. He’s going to Mississippi State on a football scholarship but will play both SEC sports in college. He was good enough to draw scholarship offers from the Bulldogs and Tennessee in both sports, among others. |
