All of these will give PANAMA heartburn. COGS 02-13-banana 04-cheers

The Kennesaw State campus reminds me of what MTSU use to look like back in the day. I think the school has huge potential. It will take a decade, but I think they can get there. My feeling is as soon Georgia State becomes respectable in athletics some larger conference will scoop them up. I think Kennesaw would be a great replacement.

Man, the more I see GSU posters say, the more I dislike their school before they even join.

I live in the Atlanta area, have seen the campus and had a family member go to GSU. Trust me, nothing to shout about.

I don't see how this belongs on the SBC board. As a former mod of this board, I thought one would know better. I see no mention of the SBC in that article.

This seems like a board more suitable for the announcement:
I-AA General Discussion

I'm just glad that there are no longer Dungeons and Dragons, Harry Potter, Comic Book, and Tuba/flute threads on here.

04-cheers

Appy State and George Southern dominates the board, so is this really the SBC board any longer ?

Boo hoo...all it talks about is a team potentially starting football so the SBC should be excited about a future member!

Every single post where you troll will receive -1 Rep from me. Go away to the C-USA boards and troll there.

Because "this is stupid" brings so much to the table.

Generally I claim a thread is stupid when you or some other dumb*** makes a comment to rile up fans of another school and you succeed. Once a thread about a serious discussion turns into pitiful whining and arguing at one another, it becomes stupid. My intent with my comment is to hopefully make the participants realize they're being foolish and get back to the subject at hand.

You're merely a pest that Moderators will deal with eventually.

Go start the thread on the I-AA forum, and you and MTPiKapp can talk about as many FCS teams as your little blue hearts desire. I don't speak for any other SBC poster, but I don't see a lot of the usuals posting here anymore. Just FCS chatter.

If you long for Kennesaw State so be it but please dont ask me to sit around as a pile of crap forms around me. FlordaJag's session with every 10 to 15 years from now school if ever escapes me. Kennesaw's ceiling is FCS and obviously so for the foreseeable next 15 years plus. Georgia politics and economic realities will ensure that. UGA and GT interests were not happy about us becoming FBS. They will be even less kind to Georgia Southern which classified a level below UGA and GT by the University System of Georgia. What do you think the reaction will be when Kennesaw classified TWO level below GT and UGA decides they want FBS? Then there is the fact that they are a state regional university that pulls most of its enrollment from Atlanta's NW and W suburbs. I am not sure what the equivalent university is in KY that is classified 2 levels below WKU but I am sure if they were admitted to the SBC there would be a WKU alumni revolt

RE: This one should thrill Floridajag - Eagle's Cliff - 02-14-2013 02:39 PM

Kennesaw St has a large enrollment, but is really just a "local" college for Atlanta-area undergrads who live at home and don't want to go downtown to State. Kennesaw has very good baseball and the talent is available to field a decent football team. The problem, as we all know, is money. People in Sunbelt states tend to support an SEC or ACC school and getting our own alumni to actively support our school is a challenge.

While being in a small media market has it's challenges, I believe there are also advantages. For Ga Southern, being in a "college town" on a beautifully landscaped campus has proved to be appealing to many students from the Metro Atlanta area as well as Savannah, Augusta, Macon, Columbus, etc. The "atmosphere" is a big part of what brings alumni back. I think Kennesaw faces a high hurdle in creating that "atmosphere".

Mercer University in Macon is also starting a program with longtime Furman Coach Bobby Lamb (son Taylor just signed with App St - top notch QB) and will start in the non-scholarship Pioneer Conference of FCS. Mercer has the resources and support to quickly become a player at the FCS level if they choose to go that route. They've already made significant investment in facilities.

Topics like this are relevant to CUSA and Sun Belt as well as FCS because we are all faced with similar fundraising and marketing challenges.

I couldn't care less about any school currently playing FCS ball, but Kennesaw State is a school in the Sun Belt's footprint and one that FloridaJag has been enamored with for quite some time.

RE: This one should thrill Floridajag - Buccaneerlover - 02-14-2013 09:53 PM

Kennesaw State is YEARS AWAY from FBS level stuff. Their basketball is awful and somehow has gotten worse. The A-Sun teams: Mercer, KSU, ETSU, FGCU and UNF are all examining different options right now. Mercer will end up scholarship soon and probably head to the SoCon, FGCU and UNF are a few years away yet from starting football, though the UNF president who was adamantly against football has changed his tune in recent weeks at the impending implosion of the A-Sun.
That leaves Kennesaw/ETSU. MT's sister school is one rubber stamp away from reinstating its' program, while KSU finally got theirs. Both ETSU/KSU have long term visions of FBS football, it's just a matter of building fan bases (something ETSU has NEVER actively tried to do until the last year).
I just wouldn't get ahead of one's self, all of these programs have alot of work to do just to get to kickoff.
