Didn't realize that Spencer Haywood's daughter plays for the Huskies.

Not much focus on WBB but NIU is not having a good season...
looks like we have not recruited the talent need to compete in the MAC
Without improvement next year could be Bennet's last year and once agaiin we blowup the womens program and start over

how many years are left on her contract? I heard she recently got extended.

I was kinda surprised Monty was being discussed for firing when Kathi Bennett has lost a good player, been suspended, and is winless in the MAC.

She's signed through 2017. She was extended last year.

I think she's ultra safe for at least one year, if not two unless NIU REALLY tanks or does something humiliating.

there is NO way NIU buys her out of FOUR years

Exactly.

To be fair, the ladies have lost a lot of close games and are pretty young...but they have clearly taken a step back this year.

Any news on her suspension...as to why? I know the press release said "violation of Athletic Dept rules."

I've never heard anything, but it's not like I'm close to the program or anything. It's curious as hell. The ladies won that game Bennett was suspended for, and only once since. They were 4-5, and the wheels really came off.

It could be coincidence, or not. I have no idea. There have been 8 losses by 7 points or less, so they haven't always been getting blown away.

I didn't realize the ladies did so well in the '90's. Jane Albright had a good run in DeKalb.

Yet another weekend of losses.

Men: 5-15

Women: 5-16

I believe KB is a better coach than MM. You can just look at her record in the Big 10 as head coach. If you watch the women's game, they are fundamentally sound on offense and defense then compare it to the men's team which is all over the place. The problem is both teams do not have much talent.

NIU75, You have no way of knowing if Bennett is a better coach than Monty. They both will be judged by their record. The women shot 44% from the line and had 20 turnovers. The mens and womens game is so different, you can not compare.

She not only lost Jacubicek from last year ( transfer to Indiana) also a freshman recruit, Nichole Wittman, is off the team. The team has lost several games to team's that had as bad, or worse record than NIU did when they played them. She has what appears to be a pretty decent player form Wisconsin signed, and another from Indiana. To me, there's a glaring lack of height. Whatever excuses/reasons for the lousy record, obviously this is not what was expected at this point in her tenure.

Trying to market the program and sell season tickets...

Anybody know the reason for the freshman transfer this year? Was it homesickness? Did she not get along with the coaches/players?
