BE Basketball TV Ratings - Topkat - 01-30-2013 10:48 AM

Kind of interesting to see the ratings of BE games so far this year.

Hasn't been published yet... I'll update the above with the new week when it comes out.

Are these considered to be good ratings? I guess we'd have to compare with ratings for the B10, ACC, etc, to know.

FWIW, they look pretty lackluster to me. CBB is getting trounced in fan appeal by FB, both collegiate & pro.

I guess that is why all the references to football being 70-80% of the money in regular season media deals.

The highest ratings I saw was ESPN Duke/Kentucky (3.0M) and UNC/Indiana (2.7M). I think the top BE game was around the 3rd highest so far this year. So yes, the (old) BE was/is a major basketball draw.

Anyway, the link shows all games.

ESPN ratings have slipped this year over the main 3 networks. However, the ESPN3 numbers are skyrocketing.

College hoops doesnt have rating even close to college football. Bad bowl games will outdraw most college bball games.

All college hoops has for a ratings heavyweight is the ncaa tourny.

When they say fb drives the bus they arent joking.

I imagine if football games were everyday and there were 28+ of them to watch per team their numbers would be different.

probably so...but regardless a bowl game with say UL-Lafayette vs ECU will have higher ratings typically than a regular season matchup of top 25 bball teams. It's just how it is.

which also should be further proof to everybody that we absolutely must continue to make football a priority. Ono and Whit get this...thank goodness.

New tv ratings for ESPN Jan 21-27.

UC/Syracuse is at #20 (of all shows). It's a tough compare to other games because it was an afternoon MLK Day game.

It did outdraw the other two games played later that same day:

Cincy does not move the needle.

Sincerely,

ACC and B12 fans on message boards.

What a bunch of idiots.

A 3:30pm game had nearly double the viewers of a Monday night prime time game.
