The UTEP women's basketball team defeated ECU 81-66 to improve to 14-1. Hopefully we can crack the top 25 this week. Go Miners!

Dont worry about the polls. Its more political on the womens side than any other sport. Just keep the rpi moving steadly up is what counts.

What is even more impressive is that we lost two of our best players at the beginning of the season. Keitha gets good/great community support. She recently got a raise and signed an extension. I'm hoping she never leaves.

It was a good, close game. We pulled away late. They will probably meet again in Tulsa.

I agree, and thats that we lost 2 starters for the year due to injuries. One was a parade all american too. This is a solid program

I didn't realize UTEP was that good. We were winning at halftime, but lost it in the second half. Complete 180 of the men team.

Keitha Adams does a fantastic job. She has the Miners at 14-1, with the only loss a one-point defeat at NMSU. The Miners beat them by 22 the following week at our place as part of a nine-game winning streak. Victories this season include Arizona, Arizona State and over then-unbeaten Kansas State in Manhattan. Getting a few votes in the polls, but at the rate they accumulate, it seems we'll need to be 24-1 before we crack the Top 25.

The only way this league gets a 2nd bid is if someone beats utep in tulsa.
tulane is the most overrated program in this league.
tulanes sos is very weak with nc wilminton, southern u and western michigan.
Womens bb is the one sport where realignment will help. We add 3 teams with rpis that would fall between utep and the 2nd place team.

They're getting closer: No. 28 this week in the coaches' poll, with a nationally televised game against UAB coming up on Sunday.

UAB women are 11-4 (2-0 CUSA) but they have the worst SOS in CUSA. I don't think they'll take offense when I say they play a 'Mike Davis' style of basketball. Play defense, ugly it up, and try to score just enough to win. It's an extremely tall challenge for them to go on the road and play at UTEP.

If the refs refuse to call the hand checking, like they did against ECU, uglying it up might be a good strategy.
