Tulsa, having dumped Nbe, CUSA should rally for a solid future on a sound foundation - Tallgrass - 01-09-2013 09:10 PM

This shaky, shaky Nbe turns tv off so much--Aresco cannot even come up with a tv contract 15 months after inviting Houston. Can't even come up with an estimate? Aresco is the world's biggest mouth and biggest lier. He knows what Nbe is worth----and he ain't going to tell until he suckers enough schools into Nbe.

All of this is rumor! No solid info has come out and not likely to for a bit. Until Tulsa knows what UH and SMU are going to do, TU will just hold the cards they have been dealt guaranteed!

Tallgrass, we all know you're really a Okie Lite fan. You're just trolling under a Tulsa guise, the jig is up man.

the nBE will survive... after the mwc is done with it.

I dont see Houston and SMU heading west. If the MW wants to go to 14 they likley will need 2 from this group--Tulsa, UTEP, UTSA, Rice, or N Texas---to get there. Frankly, I think the MW will stand pat after SDSU goes back.

The BE meeting today in Dallas may go a long way in settling all this. If I had to guess I would say Houston and SMU would prefer to stay east and that Tulsa will join them. SDSU is the real question in all this. If they stay with the BE that will make 12 for 2015 when Navy joins. The BE had decided to go to 14 but could just sit at 11 and wait on Navy or they could still go to 14 by inviting 2 to 3 more schools, depending on the SDSU decision. Tulsa, UMass, USM and Rice have all been mentioned as expansion candidates and it was also pointed out in a recent article that there were 8 total candidates. The other 4 may be Marshall, NIU and other unknowns. Either way SDSU goes I hope a decision is made at these meetings so we can find out what conference Tulsa is going to be in.

I just don't see how/why the Aztecs would stay in a conference where they are clearly the outlier. While their profile and budget are a better fit for the BE, the distance is just a killer in my amateur opinion.

I'll be surprised if the MWC doesn't just stay at 12. Not shocked, just surprised. Can't see any two adds to get to 14 adding enough to split the money 2 more ways. Can see going to 16 and adding 3 or 4 TX teams to get into Texas, but it doesn't seem like they want to go to 16. (I'm assuming SMU and UH stay in the BE.)

From my understanding of the SDSU situation. MW hasn't quite been throwing the red carpet for them to come back. SDSU might have additional fees to get back to MW. nBE has been trying to keep them on board and trying to add western schools.

BYU is still the prized hen at the end of the day. Keeping SDSU keeps that pipe dream alive in some respect. (Incredibly unlikely but why not dream big)

For better or worse nBE will survive just because USF and UCF refuse to be conference mates with FIU and FAU.

Tulsa would like to keep a strong recruiting presence in Texas. That is the main reason why Tulsa is concerned about UH and SMU, plus they are our nearest rivals. Tulsa has done the thin mountain air thing before(WAC). Ever tried to play in that stuff. MWC teams are used to it. It saps the energy right out of you. Takes longer than a week to get used to it too.

when you call someone a liar it is a good idea to back it up with facts to prove it or you look not to smart.

I think he was trying to correct a spelling error. Just posting "liar" without even an attempt at providing evidence would be pretty bad.

While he might not lay out his "facts", even you have to admit that it appears from the outside looking in that Aresco has a hard sell to these networks. Houston, SMU and UCF made their move when Aresco was promising a sure thing in the neighborhood of 10 million dollars per team. Since then the nBE has added Memphis and Tulane and lost Louisville, Rutgers, Boise and the C-7 schools. Rumors still abound about the ACC will be losing schools and UConn and Cincy will be leaving to fill those spots. If I'm a network executive I have to ask Aresco why should I shell out major dollars to you when you can't even assure me who will be in your conference in a couple of years. Also how can schools that were just in CUSA a year ago be worth so much more money now? Also why pay you a lot of money when I can go to CUSA and get them for less and still get basically the same product? Aresco may pull it off, but his track record so far is shakey at best and the longer it drags out the worst it looks.
