Sun Bowl Projection- GA Tech and USC (dont tell GTS ) - RUNVSFD MINER - 11-25-2012 11:57 PM

Sounds like a good matchup. Although sounds like some GA Tech fans would rather go to a place they haven't been to recentlyl.

I think I'd rather have my team on a national network like CBS, than have them be at a nicer destination. Because it's what is best for recruitment.

RE: ESPN Sun Bowl Projection- GA Tech and USC (dont tell GTS ) - RUNVSFD MINER - 11-26-2012 12:32 AM

The Sun Bowl Exec Dir was just on tv, and was referring to VA Tech vs USC, as being an intruiging matchup. That must be what the Sun Bowl is shooting for.

EDIT: SB Nation also has VA TECH vs USC link

Georgia Tech needs a NCAA waiver since they'll get owned by Florida State in the ACC-CG and finish 6-7. My understanding is they'll get it since they wouldn't be in the ACC-CG if it weren't for programs in trouble with the NCAA. GT should have simply finished 6-6. To prevent them from going to a bowl is to punish them for the misdeads of other programs.

The ACC-CG loser cannot fall further than the Sun Bowl by rule. With Clemson losing to USCeast, they'll go to the CFA Bowl. The Russell Athletic will then almost certainly take Virginia Tech. This means the Sun Bowl has no choice.

And while I am open to going back to El Paso, hopefully not sick as a dog this time, I will only go if the matchup is favorable. I'm sick and f*cking tired of watching GT lay egg after egg after choke after egg in bowl games. They've been to a bowl every year since '97. They've lost every damn one since '04, including last years apocalyptic meltdown and bed wetting letting Utah come back from down 2 TD in 5 minutes and then win in OT. I still need therapy from that game. The GT football team, btw, did an EXACT CARBON COPY REPEAT of the Sun Bowl the first week of this season ... losing to VT by letting them drive 80 yards in 40 seconds to win ... and then in week four letting Miami drive 80 yards in 80 seconds to win.

I seriously doubt that Georgia Tech will come to the Sun Bowl. I don't think they would want to bring the same team down again.

I dug that jolopy car they brought with them though.

FTFY.

And if GT is granted a waiver, and isn't chosen by the Russell Athletic Bowl, the Sun Bowl has no choice.

The Sun Bowl can always barter and trade, unless the N.C.2.Arseholes object...

No, they can't. By rule, the ACC-CG loser can go no lower than the Sun Bowl. With Clemson losing and thus eating the CFA Bowl slot, GT to the Sun Bowl is a virtual lock at this point.

I'd like to watch GA Tech vs USC.... That game has a lot of national appeal on one of the BIG3 Networks (CBS).

Last year, my dad was very sick and couldn't make it. But I would definitely make out there to meet with GTS for a beer this time around.

I see you have met our resident watchamacallit.

Waiver granted. Looks like if we lose I'll be headed back to El Paso.

This is what I think will happen. The Sun bowl if I am not mistaken, has a clause in it that says that they do not have to take the same team two years in a row.

I hope that we trade for a team in another conference.

RE: Sun Bowl Projection- GA Tech and USC (dont tell GTS ) - zyxwvutsru - 11-30-2012 12:53 PM

Which would have precedence? The Sun Bowl Contract stipulation on taking a team two years in a row, or the one where we have to take GT when they drop to us at the third (or whatever number it is) pick from the ACC?

That is a good question. According to the news this morning, not even Bernie Olivas knows.

For the sake of the Sun bowl, I hope the don't bring Georgia Tech again.

Very few people would go.

40K attend the Sun Bowl regardless. It is the quality, or attractiveness, of the teams involved that dictate how close we get to 50K.

You might be right. We shall see if Georgia Tech comes again.

It's a go. GT vs USC

RE: Sun Bowl Projection- GA Tech and USC (dont tell GTS ) - georgia_tech_swagger - 12-02-2012 09:07 PM

Is it worth the large amount of money to see Barkley pass for infinity on this terrible defense ... hmmmmm ....

RE: Sun Bowl Projection- GA Tech and USC (dont tell GTS ) - georgia_tech_swagger - 12-02-2012 09:13 PM

I just don't think I can justify $1,000 to see this horrible defense get shelled and victimized again. I still need therapy from being at last year's Sun Bowl.

The good thing about the PAC12 is our reputation for being a great host is pretty well known. I hope USC can bring 5 to 7k actual fans.

RE: Sun Bowl Projection- GA Tech and USC (dont tell GTS ) - Fitbud - 12-03-2012 01:57 PM

Very disappointed that Georgia Tech will be making another trip to the Sun Bowl.

I'm still going to go because I love the pac 12 USC but I would have preferred another team.
