Schedule looks locked up until 2015, who would you like to schedule for 2015-2017? - TampaKnight - 09-25-2012 04:31 PM

According to UCF's athletics website and THIS PAGE, We have 3 open spots in 2015, 4 in 2016, and 3 in 2017. Subtract 1 spot from each assuming 9-conference games in the Big East.

Who would you like to play? Here's mine:

2015:

@South Carolina (this was already scheduled)
@FIU
East Carolina

2016:

@East Carolina
FIU
@Stanford

2017:

@Texas (this was already scheduled)
@FIU
Stanford

Without any research on openings for other teams, and assuming BHNS has expanded at least one phase by 2017.
2015: @South Carolina*, @FIU, Marshall
2016: @Marshall, FIU, @FSU
2017: @Texas*, @FIU, FSU

*already scheduled

I believe Marshall and ECU are interchangable. We have a good thing going with both of them, and I would like to see our rivalry continue with at least one of them. Additionally, playing FSU would be a huge boost for our program, and they have already shown interest in scheduling us. If we show that BHNS will be larger than 45K by the time we play, maybe they submit to playing us in our house instead of the Citrus Dump.

I forgot that there was a rumor floating around about a neutral site series with FSU at the Jacksonville Jaguars stadium.

My hope here is that FSU would cave and sign a home-and-home if we expanded the stadium. A bunch of traveling fans is exactly what FSU wants right now, and the main reason they were unwilling to do a home-and-home was because 45K is to small of a stadium for them for an away game in Florida. Realistically, by 2017, if we were at 55K expansion, we would even go over capacity of that for an FSU game. That would be my dream game at BHNS. Or UF, but that will never happen.

Truth be told, I want all OOC to be between established rivalries and geographic proximity. If it's outside of those two, it better be a big name home and home series.

Here's my priority on games. Assume home and home at worst. 2 for 1's in our favor at worst. Mix and Match as you see fit

UF
FSU
UM
Marshall
ECU
FIU
FAU
Georgia
Georgia Tech

I believe in the naming rights partnership, there is some kind of contractual agreement that puts the max capacity of BHNS at 65k by 2017. Idk.

I doubt we play 9 conference games, but it might be a necessity, seeing as how the XII, PAC, SBC, and ACC will each be playing 9 games.

Frankly, I would like to see UCF schedule 1 AQ team home & home, then 1 FL team (even FIU/FAU) home & home, then 1 MAC/CUSA team home & home, then have one additional home game vs a SBC, MAC, or CUSA team. UCF should have 6 home games min. per year, and 7 at least every other year. I know the goal is 7 every year, but I really don't want to play FCS schools anymore. In the years when UCF only has 6 home games, one of the away games should be in FL (be it USF or any other FBS squad).

This. Plus, for personal reasons I would like to see them play at least one game a year out west.

Stanford, Oregon State, and Washington would be my "out-west" teams I would love to play.

As far as FCS opponents...the only two FCS teams I would continue a rivalry/matchup with are Bethune Cookman and maybe start one up with Georgia Southern or Alabama State.

Alabama State, why?

I'd like to see:

Colorado
FSU (home and home with a neutral site in Jax or Tampa)
Miami
Georgia Tech
Southern Miss
East Carolina
South Alabama
Washington
Oregon State
Utah
Maryland

They are closer to us than most FCS opponents. I would cringe if we played Florida A&M. Ugh.

Agree with losing the FCS opponents- In the event that we put together a dream season somewhere down the line, the Big East may not offer enough strength of schedule to be considered a top 4 team. Of course, that's a huge leap (and is at least one coach into the future), but it's something that everybody in the league needs to consider in the new playoff environment. I don't care anything about scheduling FSU, but it would be nice to add other AQ teams within driving distance- GT, Clemson, or perhaps one of the seemingly dozens of NC teams. Perhaps a middling SEC team- Ole Miss, Tennessee, etc?

Would also like to keep Southern Miss and ECU on the schedule frequently- I think they'll consistently be elite teams in what we think of as the non-AQ ranks. I think Marshall may never recover. If we're going to schedule west, might be better doing it against 2nd tier teams there too- Fresno, San Jose, Colorado State, etc. Long trips are tough (it's science!), so let's not fly out to be a bodybag.
