Who said anything about bowls? You claimed the ACC had only 1 team ranked among those playing the SEC today. When it was mentioned you were factually incorrect you decide to change the standard to the playoffs.

Good deal.

I stand corrected, I did say that. My intention was all about relativity to the playoffs and fumbled with that statement about rankings. My thoughts were that only one of the games had both teams ranked. I miffed with the way I stated it. Good correction.

I agree that most of the country probably did not appreciate the GT-UGA game being on the SEC Network. I'm sure it would have had much better ratings on a more prominent channel but I expect to see more high profile games moved there to exert pressure.

From "Ultimate ESPN 300" article posted today:

Quote:Here are 15 things to know about the Ultimate ESPN 300:
...
13. The teams that played for the 2012 BCS National Championship, Alabama and LSU, were supremely talented. There are 22 players from those rosters in the Ultimate ESPN 300, including 14 for the Crimson Tide.
...
11. The teams from the 2014 BCS title game are well represented on the list. Twenty-three players from Florida State and Auburn make the list, with the Seminoles accounting for 18.

Now maybe I don't know the meaning of the word "supremely" as well as I thought, but how can the 2012 Alabama/LSU BCS CG be "supremely talented" if the 2014 FSU / Auburn game had more top players?

Still trying to sell that all-SEC game, huh?

Last time I checked, the dictionary definition of "Supremely" was "best in the SEC and stop asking questions."

For full disclosure, I should warn you that my dictionary is hot off the University of Alabama press....

College Football Final just crapped on the ACC for Maryland losing to Bowling Green.

It's ok, they won't give you a chance to beat Alabama to make up for it.

RE: SECSPN - Hokie Mark - 11-21-2017 07:59 AM

OK, there MUST be a Florida Gator running ESPN. The other rivalry posters were ok, but look at this one:

Notice anything about the "NOLES" flags?

More #SECBias at ESPN:

Normally you make a Top 5 or Top 10... so why make this graphic a Top 6? Was it to include the SEC East? Very misleading... especially when you consider who was #7:
7. ACC Coastal

Well Twain never saw television so he wouldn't have known what a graphic was. Now the ultimate lies are not in graphics, but in morphed images.

It will be interesting to see if ESPN starts pimping the ACC in the same way next year to "aid" the launch of the ACCN.
The boys from Bristol rarely miss an opportunity to promote their own.

Well they certainly missed pimping the 7th best division here! If you're going top 6, why not top 7?

Wouldn’t be surprised.

Wouldn’t surprise me. Still, I would think that Walmart sells a lot of UNC, Miami, and VT shirts too!

Just checked Walmart.com. I was right. In the style of Green, “MYTH DEBUNKED”

I think most of the Miami stuff is actually costume jewelry with the "U" on a chain...

Want to get respect from whoever? Earn it. As it stands there's two programs in this conference who have earned respect. Quit bitching about something you haven't earned.

RE: SECSPN - Hokie Mark - 11-13-2019 10:11 AM

IMO: Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Georgia and Florida are all strong teams

FACT: the SEC has a better OOC win% than the ACC

BUT DID YOU KNOW... it's also a FACT that the SEC's win% is no better than the ACC's in terms of home games, is worse than the ACC's in terms of road games, and is only better in the neutral-site (made-for-TV) games?

https://accfootballrx.blogspot.com/2019/11/acc-vs-sec-2019-so-far-111219.html

Consider the match-ups in those games:

Florida-vs-Miami (played in Orlando, came down to the last drive IIRC)
Alabama-vs-Duke (played in Atlanta)
Auburn-vs-Oregon (but played about 1,000 miles closer to Auburn)
LSU-vs-Texas (this is the one they hang their hat on)
S.Carolina-vs-N.Carolina (which the ACC team won in an upset)

In no case was the SEC team an underdog going into those neutral site games (I think Auburn/Oregon and LSU/Texas lines were pretty close, however).

CONCLUSION: the illusion of dominance is created through scheduling.

Thoughts?
