We lost by 1 point to a team that would probably be favored to win the Big East. If our special teams didn't make so many mistakes we would have won, easily. It irritates me to no end to read the Big East board. F@ck 'em.
I hope our new offense rips the Big LEast to shreds.

Of course, it's Northwestern with the bad secondary. The Syracuse offense just couldn't be that good, because we suck. Because we're Syracuse and haven't had a winning season since 2 seasons ago.
It's also not unreasonable to think that preseason predictions would of had Northwestern winning the Big East, if they were members.

Syracuse just had too many self inflicted wounds.
If they right those, they'll have a good season.

Oh Pitt was awful today. If they play like that every game this year they're not going to win one. I highly doubt that happens, but still - it was that bad.

I wouldnt go as far as to say that NW would be favored to win the BE this season, at least not yet. We will know how good they really are by Oct. But I will say that they definitly would finish top half BE.
I really do like the new wrinkle in our offense. Getting 600 yards against a bcs team is not small feat. Non of the BE teams have gotten anywhere near that kind of offense. Not even against some of the fcs teams they have played. Uconn only got 300 yards against their fcs opponent. But somehow, I guess thats impressive for them. They dont have much of an offense. They will struggle to be bowl eligible. . USF will also struggle on offense..

Maybe it was the SU recievers that made them look so bad. Our receivers are the same kids who kept burning K State in the Pinstripe Bowl in 2010. And our top receiver from last season didnt even play today. Well see how good NW really is, as well as SU, very soon.

I never said you guys are bad, the OP did. I think Cuse is pretty good. I dont think Northwestern is that great. I think Colter and Mark are pretty good and I thought Siemian played pretty well too, but their secondary is FCS level.

And now Memphis loses to an FCS team that went 5-6 last year. I don't hear much chirping going on anymore on the BE board. I think they just remembered the great big pile of garbage that's being dumped into their conference next year.

Cuse got robbed by the refs IMHO. It wasn't Pitt's finest hour but they'll bounce back. Rutgers' offense was offensive and the defense was just OK. Not a great weekend for present-day Big East football.

I'm not going to blame the refs. We shouldn't have gotten ourselves into that position (on the play itself and in the game generally). Love the way the team fought back. It would have been easy to give up. Too many mistakes, turnovers and penalties. The worst was the fumble on the lateral. Bad mental mistake. Exciting game though. Could be a fun season.

Northwestern is a Big 10 bottom feeder. Syracuse will be an ACC bottom feeder. Game was competitive as should be expected.

2 bad punt coverages (82 and 52 yard returns).
Incomplete forward pass which turned out to be a backwards lateral.
Freak bounce which turned into an interception.
We handed NW 4 TD's.
Nothing that can't be fixed.

This is an example as to why everyone jumps all over you, and its well deserved. But or your information, NW hasnt been a Big 10 bottom feeder since the first year that their present coach took over. They have had some 7,8,9 win seasons, since 2007 which is very similar to FSU. They are no world beaters, but far from bottom feeders.

Yes I am extremely scared of Syracuse. Shaking in my boots...
Northwestern, Indiana, and Minnesota have been the 3 least attractive programs most years that I have followed the Big 10. I live in Ohio so I know all about the conference. Sure Fitzgerald is a great coach and has improved them. They still are in the lower tier in the conference overall. Same place Syracuse will be upon entering the ACC.
No one in their right mind would put Northwestern with Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Nebraska, and Iowa over a long period of time. Illinois and Purdue have done more over a long period of time as well. The bottom 3 have definitely been Indiana, Minnesota and Northwestern.

We are not talking about most years. The current trend is that NW isnt a Big 10 bottom feeder and hasnt been since 2007. Their record since 2007 is very similar to FSU. FSU has the slight edge. But neither team has been world beaters since 2007. OH, the thread Syracuse Sucks title is a sarcastic one.
