Those of you who have Bright House Cable, probably noticed that NBC affiliate WESH was not on today. That's because contract negotiations fell through with Hearst and Hearst chose to black out their stations.

I thought the FCC requires cable operators to carry all local (over the air) stations on their cable systems. That's the only reason all those religious channels that broadcast with equipment you can buy at radio shack are carried on cable.

WESH is owned by Hearst, contract negotiations with Bright House fell through so Hearst pulled their feed. Bright House, from what I understand, is broadcasting a station from North Carolina, no idea what the content is, or what broadcaster they are affiliated with.

I was surprised to see this happen because usually both sides threaten, but make some sort of 11th hour deal.
