Who Turned Up The Outdoor Thermostat .... - Whinny1 - 07-03-2012 01:17 PM

... to the "HELL" setting??!! 01-lauramac2

It's been an unbearable summer so far, with more to come. Thirteen drops of rain at my place over the last three weeks. The grass is brown and the trees are all drooping.

As am I.

Well, it's not because of "Global Warming."

Some knowledgeable posters and their sources say so.

Usually it doesn't get like this until we start Two-a-days.

^ Otherwise, it's doing a damn poor job of it. Think about it ...... southern Lake Michigan water temp is currently 72 degrees. Our heat index is currently 105 degrees. The lake needs to work harder.

Sorry. The collective bargining agreement doesnt allow for the Lake to work any harder.

Cooled off here around 5:30 Chicago time on Saturday. Dropped 20 degrees in 15 minutes. No rain but had the grandkids at the muni pool and everyone wanted to stay in the water neck deep to keep from getting a chill as the temp plummeted way down to 81.

Glorious breeze ever since with windows and doors open with only screens keeping any bugs out. Beautiful.

Here in Colorado, the nasty heat hold was finally broke by monsoon rains which raced in from the Baja, helped put out the fires. There is almost 100% containment of the fires now, and today's soaking should finish that effort. Now we're hitting saturation level and the scored earth is starting to slide, we have mudslide warnings.

Our reservoirs need the break that this water brings.

One of my assistants played at University of Texas.

Said recent weather reminded him of "Texas heat" except that there it didn't cool off at night.

It was nice actually being able to go for my morning walk. 85+ at 9am is uncalled for.

I never thought that I'd be able to say that 88 degrees seemed cool. Well, it happened today.

Reminds me of when I lived in Dallas back while interning in the Summer of 2005.

I realized I'd adjusted to the heat when a 90-degree afternoon felt cool out...

It IS all relative. After a couple of 105 and 103 days, when we had a day where it was 'only' 97, it felt cool to me, too. Last few days with the rain and high 70s low 80s has been wonderful. Rained like crazy downtown this a.m. but I got not a single freakin' drop where I live. Only got a 10 min. shower the past few days, while all around us it was lots of rain.
