Did you even read the article or are you so obsessed with getting this guy in an EMU uniform that you glossed over the part where it says his probation was extended for 30 days for missing a mandatory drug test. This is the problem with some of the people on this site; when becoming a fan changes over to being a fanatic. I love EMU, my wife and I both graduated from Eastern, but my enthusiasm for its sports teams doesn't supercede my morality. I like Coach English and up until now I respect what he's done for EMU football but if he signs this guy it proves that he cares more about winning then building a program of character. Mr. Stonum will have a degree from a great University, he can take his talents to the next level without playing another down of collegiate football, I really hope English doesn't jeopardize his integrity and reputation on this kid.

You act like Stonum is a thug. He isn't. He has made some poor choices, but he has not hurt anyone.

A moral person forgives and gives second chances.
I am not saying this young man is a thug. I am just saying that Michigan seems to have given him a second chance (two DUI) and now he is looking for a 3rd one.

I am okay with people making mistakes but it depends on what it was.. If during his DUI someone was hurts would you be so understanding and asking to give him another chance?

Why didn't Michigan not keep him and give him another chance? Let me make myself clear. I support this of English goes with it..

Dear Friends,
My two-cents worth of this discussion is not to take Mr. Stonum if he wants to come to Eastern. I really think this will undermine the concept that was started here by Coach English, and also lose the rapport that was also created, with his players. Eastern is working with the recruits that came here and have lived by the rules. With all the house cleaning that Coach English has done why would you jeopardize that now.... for a player that will be here one semester?

Ken, I agree with you, but it looks like it is inevitable. Since I have no control, I am forcing myself to accept it...sigh.

Olds should get more credit. He's tough as nails and has a great set of hands. He's not going to set land-speed records, but he's big and rangy and has good body-control. He's the kind of receiver QBs place confidence in.

It will be more interesting to see how the DL and defensive backfield shake out.

Anyone want to say that EMU might have the best group of skill players on offense in the MAC?

E.g., Hoskins, Russell, Stonum, and Olds (for staters).

I agree on Olds. He made the most of limited opportunities last year. He could be big over the next two years.

Dear Friends,
Eagle Totem site by cmadler has Brooks ahead of Russell on the depth chart. Everyone has a bad day, but as I reported to this thread from last Thursday, If, Brooks is showing that he is not catching the ball consistently, I don't know how he can be ahead of Russell on the depth chart.

I'm not sure Brooks is a starting MAC TE. He doesn't appear to have the feet to be a decent blocker.

He played last year more by necessity.

Brooks is a big guy. He is perfect for the power running game.

From EMU Athletics: "Gates open at 1pm, and the Equipment/Garage sale will begin then as well. We have confirmed, there will be uniforms from different programs as well as a limited amount of football helmets for sale."

It had previously been reported that the gates would open and the sale would begin at Noon. Now EMU Athletics is saying 1:00.

Kick-off is at 2:00. 04-cheers

BTW - Get out of my way if they are selling any baseball jerseys in my size! 05-mafia
