Where does the MAC go from here? What about UMass, their biggest A-10 basketball team just left too.

So, Marshall wins multiple MAC titles and goes to C-USA, Temple does nothing and goes to the Big East?

HAHA this is so...01-wingedeagle

"The Mid-American Conference's exit fee is $2.5 million with two years notice, but it's unknown what the amount what be by providing less than a year's notice, a source said."

The MAC office better get 10mil for this.

Even if it's five million Temple will pay it and good on them.. I just hope getting to the Big East does not turn them into Marshall fans..

Temple to the Big East makes a lot of sense. More so than most of the other schools that they are taking.
Congratulations Temple!

Temple is not moving up to the Big East as much as they are being readmitted to the Big East.

So does this mean the CUSA guys will now shut it about MAC teams not getting selected or will Temple not count since they are Football only? 03-hissyfit

Lets see what happens... I was convinced this was all but impossible....

Bret McMurphy stated that the exit fee from the MAC was the hold up.

BTW thanks PH for another -2 ratings... did not relise one person could be so committed to negative ratings.

Now our divisions will still be messed up....

And what does money go to if said team left?

This is really going to F up all the teams who had them scheduled and push back the release of the official conference schedule.

Temples scheduled 2012 opponents...
* MAC home games: Akron, Eastern Michigan, Ohio, UMass
* MAC road games: Buffalo, Kent State, Miami (OH), Western Michigan

Okay so the easy fixes involve the West teams...

Buffalo/Miami @ WMU
and
EMU @ Miami/Buffalo

Akron, Ohio, UMASS and Kent St will be the ones who get jerked around the most.

RE: Temple to Big East? - TUJim - 02-22-2012 03:44 PM

I would agree with that, if this rumor is true I would like to see some MAC teams stay on the schedule

Put in the BE that's 7 games and they have 4 OOC games scheduled. So I guess they could keep their home game with UMASS and give them a return game in 2013 as part of the exit fee.

I would say 5 Million at a Minimum, but 10 sounds nice.. Let them Pay half now and 1 Million a yead for the next five..

5 this year
2.5 2013
2.5 2014
AND either pay for UMASS to rejoin the FCS OR agree to a 1-1 with UMASS for 2012 and 2013...They will need one more OOC game for both years.

RE: Temple to Big East? - UofToledoFans - 02-22-2012 04:33 PM

Temple had an outstanding run in the MAC, going to many consecutive MACC's and running through the top tier teams year after year.

RE: Temple to Big East? - exCincy Kid - 02-22-2012 04:44 PM

I wonder if the C-USA board has some new threads about how they may decide to ask Temple to join, and speculate on how Temple may turn down the BE offer since membership in C-USA/MWC Alliance thing is a better option.

P.S. What happens to UMASS...do they have an easy "out" clause if Temple leaves? Will the MAC want them to leave, or instead add a football only program?
