What a sad event. I honestly don't know why people insist on harming others. Hopefully the guy who did it is hanged.

Omg! Shaun Wild played for the NIU football team. He's transferred to NCC after a few years. I knew fairly well. This is awful news! Prayers out to his family

Some of my friends were at the bar at the time and said there was blood everywhere. Crazy it happened right in Naperville out of all towns.

First thing I thought when I saw it was NCC was that I hope it isnt my cousin, he plays on the football team for them. thank god he wasnt one of the victims.

If there is the video proof and a hundred eye witnesses, as well as a confession, there is no reason he should be given the opportunity for bail. He should also be executed, no way he is not guilty.

I was at the Barnes and Noble with my sons that night across the street from Frankie's Blue Room. We obviously went home long before the stabbing but what a sad event.

Wow. I live in Naperville but don't visit the downtown area much. This is the only tragedy I can remember in that area. Best wishes to the families and friends.

A terrible tragedy, and certainly a cautionary tale of the sort of unforeseen crap that can happen when you're out on the town. The Blue Room's a nice place, there's no way that those guys were in the least bit concerned for their safety. You hassle the wrong guy who's been drinking, though, and awful stuff can happen. You never know who is that type of guy, either.
Just horrible. In addition to his family and friends, I guarantee his students, who are all of 7 years old, will be just devastated by this.

Parents don't send your kids to Illinois State or any University located in downstate IL along the murderers' row known as I-74.

My first thought when I heard the name was that he did play @ NIU, then reading this and looking up his name on the net it was confirmed. I lived on the same floor in 89-90 with former NIU LB Steve Wild, who was from Wisconsin. I saw him @ the NIU@Iowa I game in 2006 and he said his nephew (Shaun) was on NIUs football team.
My prayers to him and his family.

I remember Steve Wild, he was a good LBer... just an awful tragedy.

Its too bad you never visit downtown. Its the one thing that makes Naperville (kinda) cool!

It can be very crowded on weekends, but still a really nice place to go. Good restaurants, love the Riverwalk, just a great all-around atmosphere!

I do go downtown a little, the library is down there, Barnes&Noble (yes I'm a geek), the Apple store, a few others, and the Riverwalk area is nice. I just haven't gone to the bars in that area lately.
As a matter of fact the astronomy club I belong to occasionally sets up telescopes at night down there right by the river for people to look through as they're passing by. You can see the brighter stuff anyway, too many lights for much else.
