RE: UC 110 in RPI - Bearcats#1 - 01-17-2012 06:06 PM

WAAAAY too early to make bracket predictions and worry about RPI

RE: UC 110 in RPI - rath v2.0 - 01-18-2012 09:29 PM

OUt of curiosity...here is the realtimerpi.com line for UC before tonight. Limiting it to this one so I can compare apples to apples.

101 Cincinnati 4-1 14-4 0.5375 213 0.4808

RE: UC 110 in RPI - Bearcat_Bounce - 01-18-2012 09:31 PM

just beat the #4 RPI team on the road, so it should go up significantly. Also had Villanova and X win coupled with St Jonhs and Marshall losing...

RE: UC 110 in RPI - Bearcat_Bounce - 01-18-2012 09:34 PM

Well the Bearcats moved up to #86 in the RPI...

I know we had some bad losses early, but damn. How many ranked teams do we need to beat to have a decent RPI?

Steady diet of 225+ teams still dragging us down, especially home loss to Pres. If we keep playing well we will be fine but our non conference schedule was historically bad.

If you look at some of the teams UC played and on top of that their records - it's pretty sad. UC has played several of the very worst teams in the country.

Alcorn St. 4-14
Jacksonville St 6-14
Presby 8-10 (2-6 in their league)
Radford 4-16
Ark Pine Bluff 2-16
Chicago St 1-16

From realtime rpi? If you can, post the entire line. curious to see the SOS value to see the change.

They played Alabama state (301 RPI) as opposed to Alcorn State (341 RPI). Still however, some dismal teams...

Perhaps. But they are all slightly different. I just picked one with the numbers pre game. Wanted to see how everything moved win or lose.

RE: UC 110 in RPI - BeerCat - 01-18-2012 11:27 PM

WVU is 18 and SU is 1, gotta love the Big East, gives us plenty of chances.

RE: UC 110 in RPI - Ragpicker - 01-18-2012 11:49 PM

Settled in at 88 with victories over #8 and #16.

We played just as bad of a schedule last year but we didn't lost to absolutely terrible teams like Presbyterian or St. John's at home, where losses are worse..

We are 5-1 in the big east now. If we win 80% of our Big East games this year RPI won't be an issue. We keep beating top 10rpi teams and don't lose, it won't matter. So far is what I have been hoping for in conference play to make my RPI fears go away. Hell I've thought for a while we could get to a 14-4 type Big East season.

My only concern is if we finish say, 10-8 or 11-7 (which seems less and less likely by the day). We go 14-4 and the rpi won't mean **** other than a seed line or two.

RE: UC 110 in RPI - BearChatter v2.0 - 01-19-2012 08:08 AM

We jumped 15 to 20 spots in the rpi, depending on which one you look at. If we beat WVU and Syracuse, we probably jump 30 to 40 spots, obviously. Simply just playing them should bolster us some, shouldn't it?

Strange. Realtimerpi bumped the RPI up to 70 but dropped the SOS to 248.

RE: UC 110 in RPI - HattoriHanzo - 01-19-2012 09:58 AM

Our RPI will take a boost after playing the #13 and #1 teams in the RPI you used above. Win or lose. So long as UC doesn't fall flat on Saturday or Monday, their newly-minted rep should be intact.
