Let me preface what I am about to say by explaining that this does not apply to all CUSA or BE fans...I am speaking in general terms

-- Has anyone else beens suprised by the level of support UL has gotten from our CUSA neighbors...Memphis fans stopping by to wish the Cardinals luck, I have noticed threads over there applauding ULs march through the tourney( although it must be said that some posters were just counting the NCAA units the Cardinals are earning for them).....and to contrast that with us on this board who were almost giddy when Boston College lost to Wisc-Milwaukee in the first round....redagrdless of how it effected the perception of our conference strenght this yr.... What is the difference. Do we take BC and the others leaving more personally? Are CUSA fans just wanting the positive publicity of UL making it to the final four because it may be along while before a team from that conference advances so far?

I think it has more to do with the money generated for C-USA by Louisville. Those same fans that are "cheering" for UL also claim their fans are ignorant a-holes...

It's the money.

If Louisville wasn't generating a dime, you wouldn't here one word of encouragement.

Some things change and some things don't, but one thing will remain contestant, there will be those that bring home the bacon and those that eat it.

C-USA has to many schools that are content to let someone else earn the bacon. But come season end they are there to collect money that they did not earn.

To many school in C-USA are on life support, and don't care to make a dime on there own. They just wait till the seasons over and sponge off others accomplishments.

And there you see the reason that they are cheering Louisville on, they don't care how it affects Louisville, they simply want another hand out.

Agreed USM is the worse in Basketball--so much potential so little results. 0-2 in their glorious history--they are riding Louisville like multi-generational welfare scum. It isn't Nirvana in the Big East we have our own slackers. Although some seem to be geting their acts together.

actually, most memphis fans could care less about the money when it comes to louisville. we hate louisville, we dont like cincy, but we've playing these teams for years and have grown to respect and love them as brothers. some of my earliest memories come from memphis-louisville games. most people from memphis that are my age are in the same boat. i was pissed when the old metro split up at first b/c we werent going to play louisville. as far as the BC- big east hatred, ya'll see BC as gold diggers. they first opposed the other teams going before they went themselves. with louisville, we don't see it that way because every single other school in this league would have done the same thing. see ya later louisville, and cincy. hope to see you soon one day.

I can't speak but just for me, but I am pulling hard for UL in football and basketball. Same goes for UC and USF. I still pull other conference mates from the past like Old Dominion and VCU. I would think the animosity towards BC comes from the appearance they were pledging their loyalty to the BE will courting the ACC behind the scenes.

I was not a TCU fan for about a year after they did something similar, but that wore off. I guess I realized it's really just a couple of administrators and boosters behind these actions and not the whole university and their fans.

I would love to see UL, UC and USF win every football and basketball BE championship from here on.

I think it's because UC and Louisville along with C-USA so well. It was us against the world. In UC's case, we brought a consistent national profile to the conference in basketball and gave it annual respect and C-USA fans appreciated that. It allowed them to build up their programs while having a representative known as a national power. Louisville, while not going to the NCAAs every year, was also a national name, and their football program was definitely a name on the national scene. C-USA fans appreciate that.

Memphis fans and ECU fans are both trying to buy goodwill because both want to be the 9th Big East member! 04-cheers

LOL you are out of your birdy mind.

Your desperate need to feel that your school controls our future
is pathetic.

If Memphis gets into the BE, it wont be because of internet fans
discussing it, you delusional, sad little b!tch.

We have been getting a lot of support lately after a year and a half of bashing us (every since we announced we were going to the Big East); it's weird.

Maybe it's because they just want to see any CUSA team win, even if it's those bad UofL people.

...I guess when it comes down to it; your jersey still says "CUSA" on it, so you're still a representative of CUSA. Hell, I put the Cards in my final four...of course, I had y'all losing to Oklahoma State. I think aTxTIGER nailed it on the head.

If nothing else, Louisville's success just shows that it is possible to come out of CUSA and make some noise.

I don't think Memphis fans are "sucking" up to Louisville or Cincinnati. If so, where's the same response to USF? It simply isn't there.
