Western Terrible - ETSU Worse - Buc66 - 10-31-2011 03:41 PM

This one really got under my skin. They're talking about my school!

At the Western Carolina forum, there's much discussion about the terrible state of Western football. One poster said this: "2 more years of Wagner (Head Coach) and we go the way of ETSU". That's how we're viewed. No matter how bad you're doing, you have not reached the low of ETSU. ETSU is the bottom, the ultimate loser, the glaring quitter, the place that you do not want to go no matter how bad things are going. And that, my friends, is how our alma mater is seen by many outside our own knucklehead athletic "leaders". Humiliating!

What these people have done to ETSU athletics for the past decade cannot go ignored by the new president. Surely the stench will not escape his/her nostrils.

As long as you have mullins, breedlove and stanton telling the new president how many asuck championships, ncaa appearances and the fans like the asuck, nothing is going to happen.

Someone needs to talk to the new president and ask where the athletic money is being spent, why is it being spent different than other state universities and how can other state universities have a marching band, a football team and more facilities than ETSU with a smaller or equal budget.

The BFFF needs to get the presidents ear and the area press needs to start polls, asking the students, fans and businesses, 'why they don't support ETSU athletics and what would they support?

There needs to be full, open discussions on the future direction of ETSU athletics, not a backroom full of stanton/mullins cronies telling the new president their lame version of 'ETSU just can't do what our peer instituions do and here's why'.

ETSU NEEDS NEW ATHLETIC LEADERSHIP........NOW.........OR ETSU SPORTS ARE DOOMED TO D1 BOTTOM LEVEL or WORSE. FOREVER.

Misinformation and spin is going to be one of the biggest issues going forward. Who the new President decides to lean on is going to be critical for the future of athletics. If he allows the honey potion to fill his ear of how great it is to compete and win in the A-Sun we're all screwed.

Have to hope he cleans house across the board and hires new people with new ideas........check that....... with ACTUAL ideas.

I went to the App State Georgia Southern game on Saturday in Boone. As kickoff approached I got a little emotional....okay alot emotional. This used to be us. ETSU could have been there in front of 30,000 fans. Instead I was somewhere I had been before, but was not there to see my team. I felt the pain of 2003 all over again. I didn't expect to have that happen.

The days that Paul Stanton and Dave Mullins leave this university, will be 2 of the happiest days of my life.

********.

Dittos. Just think while App was beating NO 1 team in the nation we were playing a "homecoming" basketball game against Tusculum. Mullins and Stanton are proud of that. Time for them to go.

I've been to every App game this year except the GSU game (thanks to the Circus, darn kids and their happiness). At every game I just sit there and think about how far ASU (my other alma mater) has come and just how sad the ETSU situation has become. My undergrad Alma Mater had the Homecoming Court on a soccer field. I just shake my head at the thought.

I think we do a video montage of SoCon and FCS game day experiences and hand that over to the new President and say "WHY NOT US?"
