We can still add someone, however a player's commitment is not written in stone (until the Fall semester) like a Letter of Intent. Given Bartow's recent whiffs, I suspect that he's being even more calculated with who he brings in. Moreover, this strategy has worked for us in the past: Sneed, Tiggs, and Tubbs were all brought in with a scholarship that Bartow held onto.
Time will tell, of course, if holding onto a scholarship was prudent given our need to reload NOW.

Univ of Cincinnati recently dismissed 6-9 Fr Octavius Ellis from Memphis. Does ETSU have any interest?

Hopefully not, if a rogue program kicks someone off the team I don't want them.

I am not so sure, Rod. On one hand, he might be a cancer to a team and not worth the risk. On the other hand, perhaps he's learned his lesson?
Does his boat load of talent may outweigh the risk?????
I'm glad I'm not a coach.

With a loose scholarship, I say go for it. Of course, we'd have to put our long line of talented big recruits on hold.

Cinncinnati has been a bunch of thugs since Huggins, hell look at this past year, the brawl with Xavier. If they can't deal with him anymore I don't want that kind of cancer on the team. Besides i have seen nothing that says he has ever heard of ETSU let alone would consider coming here.
He was involved in the that brawl with Xavier and was suspended for 6 games, he didn't even play in the game (in fact he only played in 3 games) so he came off the bench to get into the fight. He hit a bouncer in a nightclub, thats what got him kicked off the team. I wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole.

If we had a team with experienced leadership - a Wadood and Fields, a Tiggs and Pigram, it would be one thing. But we've got a bunch of young kids and 3 new JUCO's coming in. "Chemistry" is guarranteed to be a key concern in that atmosphere.
We badly need size and muscle inside. But this would seem to be an enormous risk.

I have no idea who it is...but look for our last scholarship to go to a transfer.

With 2 current players from Memphis (Sr Jones and Fr Walton) and an assistant coach (Johnson) with ties to Memphis, would Bartow think the support system is in place to take a chance on Ellis?

Ellis looks like he could be a great replacement for Isiah, maye an upgrade, even. Who knows what might happen.
