There is room for Ga State in 2014. Which SBC school do you think will be the first to schedule UNCC?

It's probably a non-issue until they have an FBS invite.

I was thinking that Middle Tennessee would be the first to host UNCC's FCS program. It counts for bowl qualifincations and its only a 6 hour drive from Charlotte. They might bring a nice crowd.

Yeah, but with an upstart program, the odds are they'll be looking for bigger paychecks for their FBS games, which probably counts out any Sun Belt school, but reason to further count out MT from the mix is that in the six schedules put together in the Massaro/Stockstill era(counting 2011) we've played two FCS programs, both were instate programs less than 90 miles away, both of whom we had a long history with(over 50 games played against each opponent) when we were FCS.

Again, I wouldn't look for UNCC to pop up on any Sun Belt schedules until they are an FBS member.

I think we're moving away from those types of games (we only had two last year, MTSU had one and ULM had one, winning them both).

I think we're (FIU and others) moving toward a model of playing two to four game OOC series' with FBS opponents. I know there are a bunch of money games coming up for the Sun Belt schools, however, the goal, I believe is to move away from these as much as possible.

Why on earth should we have any interest in UNCC's schedule ?03-zzz03-zzz

Alright, who is on UNT OOC shedule for the next two years? UNT is out west so I do not think UNCC would be interested. Is UNT the Florida Gators homecoming opponent again? 03-weeping

I cant even REMEMBER the last time that FAU had a FCS opponent other then when we were in FCS.

UNT's OC schedule is full, but regardless why would folks on the Belt board be really interested in UNCCs schedule ?05-stirthepot

Nobody is, except for the Jag fan who is deperately looking for someone they can beat. Sorry Jag, you're going to have to take your lumps just like all the rest of us 'move-ups' did. (evil laugh 03-lmfao)

RE: UNCC Football Schedule 2013 and 2014 - FloridaJag - 04-21-2011 02:47 PM

UNCC will probably be a recruiting rival in the next four years especially for Middle Tennessee.

It looks like UWF (University of West Florida) will be announcing its adding football in in a couple months. They are in the GSC.
With Stetson announcing last month that it was adding football this will add pressure on UNF (University of North Florida) to add Football.

Therefore, you have new programs at GSU, ODU, KSU and UNCC with App State, Georgia Southern and Jacksonville State looking to move up. UNF will not be DII or FCS when it finally announces. At that poing FGCU will add football because it will be the only state university without football. So you will have a defacto new conference if they schedule each other.

App State
Florida Gulf Coast
Georgia State
Georgia Southern
Jacksonville State
Kennesaw State
North Carolina Charlotte
North Florida

Something to think about for 2016.

I doubt we run into UNCC on the recruiting trail too much any time soon, especially as long as they are FCS. We don't recruit the Carolinas or Virginia and Tennessee doesn't turn out enough talent to make me worry about them coming into our state. We may run into each other some in Georgia and Florida, but I'm not too worried about them taking any of our recruits anytime soon.

You guys really don't recruit South Carolina an Virginia? That doesn't make sense. I know you guys recruit in Florida because you have picked up a few from around the Tallahassee area. What about Arkansas?

I am very interested and supportive of the Jags football program. I also no this part of the country concerning football interest. Therefore, I am also paying attention to future rivalries that will affect Jag recruiting.

Therefore the the USA Jag football effect.

1. UWF football
2. UNF football
3. FGCU football
4. Jax state football move to FBS
5. UNA football move to FBS (unlikely but they may try)
6. Southeastern Lousiana move to FBS (depends on success of Lamar)
7. Valdosta state moves to FCS

You are in Texas .... so I don't expect you to be aware of the ground situation here in dixie. I am actually looking to see if the GSC adds UWF and moves to merge with the remainder of the Southland or the Lonestar conference. A lot of your NFL player comeout of Non FBS
and FCS programs.

Until very recently, South Alabama was in that state of non football/FBS. Therefore, we were in the same boat or worse than some of these programs. So I appreciate any school trying to make the leap.

I know personally what it is like to go from a school without to a school with football. There is a big difference between a campus with football and without football. School pride is extremely advanced by having football. Plus, half the belt schools didn't have FBS/Div IA football programs 10 years ago. I don't get the high and mighty attitude against FCS schools. It is not like UNT has made the sky roar or part the sea since it has been FBS.

I see USA, GSU, UNCC, UTSA on par with the potential of UAB, UCF, USF, UNT, FAU and FIU. This is due to the urban settings. The football landscape is always changing. It definatelly has in Florida. Alabama and Georgia are about to follow. Louisiana and Mississippi are stagnant.

In Texas the pecking order is still

Texas
Texas A&M
Texas Tech (some say Tech is above A&M)
Texas Christian
Baylor
Houston
SMU (SMU appears to rising again)
UTEP
Rice
UNT
Texas Southern
Texas State
Prairie View A&M

And now UNT has to deal with UTSA and Lamar. You don't like it because in your own state UNT is barely recognized as FBS. Now you have to share the minimal stage light with UTSA and Texas State. Yes, truth hurts.

We have to deal with it in Mobile. As I was waiting for Jag football, I paid attention to other schools announcing Football teams. I seen the rise of UCF and USF. Seen what FAU and FIU can do with a little time. It did not take long for them to catch up to UNT.

I get you Mean Green. You are proud to be FBS.

Just be aware of what is happening around you. And you don't get to close the barn door behind you. It is wide open. UNT and the rest of the SBC is going to have to prove it on the field and in the stands. You can't knock any school that out represents you in the stands.

UMASS is moving up to FBS. Villanova is next. App State is close. UTSA is coming to Texas. Texas State is making noise. The band keeps growing and so will the SBC.

So, please excuse me as I state my case to the rest of the belt. You might be surprised that the point view is different where you are sitting. I am just more vocal with my point of view. Hell, I live in SEC and ACC country and here the SBC is not even a consideration. But I represent any way.

Go Jags! Go Mean Green! Go SBC!
