Greetings, one and all. I am having a terrific time watching the game between Wichita State and the College Of Charleston...That crowd is tremendous, and turning out in droves for this program, reminds of the hey days of the Shockers when Antoine Carr was there...I have to convey commendations to you all for that fantastic crowd support for your basketball team, I happen to enjoy the NIT, our Blazers were in it last year and even though we didn't make the so-called "big dance", I as a fan, had a blast. I wish you all the best and hope you at least make to Manhattan for the Final Four, the only "dog" I have in this "hunt" is Northwestern, but if they fall short (hopefully not due to having run across Wichita State), I hope y'all take the whole thing.
I also have a friend/associate that is a jazz musician that calls Wichita home.
My inquiry has to do with the nickname of your team, "Shockers"...I was wondering if the fans in Wichita refer to them at times as the "Wheatshockers?" Or have they just abandoned that part of their mascot's name? Thank you in advance, whoever the announcers are on ESPN are paying the fans in attendance the ultimate compliment for their noise and enthusiasm, he said in no uncertain terms, "I love these fans!" Definitely one of the greatest atmospheres I've seen in college hoops this season...I hope that in the very near future, the paths between UAB (Blazers) and Wichita State will cross on a home and home arrangement...Good luck....It is good to see the Shockers doing so well again.
