Owls vs Bruins - Mike_Hunt - 03-02-2011 02:19 PM

These are two evenly matched teams and it's anybody's ball game on a neutral floor. Belmont tripped up Kennesaw last time, but the score is 0-0 now.

Belmont by 35

If anything we have our best chance to beat them today then we have all season. its REALLY difficult to take a team seriously after you beat them by a 45. As of now were up by 1 :)

Killing THEM 84!

RE: Owls vs Bruins - KennesawBasketball - 03-02-2011 02:58 PM

Up5! Belmont timeout....dare I say the greatest upset in ASun history? Belmont is so good...it is ridiculous that we are hanging tight with them even after 10 minutes. Maybe we can keep it up for a bit longer...the longer we stay close, the more the pressure builds on Belmont.

RE: Owls vs Bruins - KennesawBasketball - 03-02-2011 03:08 PM

Up 2 8 minutes to go....had a nice lineup for a while of Spencer, Artie, Markeith, Anderson, and Ladaris...really like the big lineup against Belmont. Whenever we go small (spencer and kelvin together) we are getting hammered on defense.

RE: Owls vs Bruins - Owlzfan84 - 03-02-2011 03:11 PM

23-16..Our ball after the timeout.

RE: Owls vs Bruins - KennesawBasketball - 03-02-2011 03:19 PM

4 point lead with 4 to go....hanging in there, but not really playing well in the last couple of minutes...need to pick it up or Belmont will.

RE: Owls vs Bruins - KennesawBasketball - 03-02-2011 03:21 PM

Belmont down 1 at the line for a 1and1....about to lose the lead I fear...

RE: Owls vs Bruins - KennesawBasketball - 03-02-2011 03:25 PM

Down 2 Markeith at the line with 1 more free throw.

RE: Owls vs Bruins - KennesawBasketball - 03-02-2011 03:27 PM

Down 4...Belmont has hit back to back 3's....need a stop here big time.

RE: Owls vs Bruins - KennesawBasketball - 03-02-2011 03:31 PM

Down 7....unreal. Can't get a defensive rebound so we end up fouling. They make the first, miss the second get the rebound and make the layup. Ball has not been bouncing our way...we have the last position...need a basket.

RE: Owls vs Bruins - KennesawBasketball - 03-02-2011 03:32 PM

Markeith pushoff....no we don't. Could be a 10 point deficit if they hit a 3

RE: Owls vs Bruins - KennesawBasketball - 03-02-2011 03:41 PM

The worst part is that if we actually stuck to what we were doing at the beginning of the game:

Big lineup
3-2 extended zone
4 out 1 in offense

We could hang somewhat with Belmont. But whenever we throw in our two small guards together we get murdered because our zone is completely ineffective. We have to slow the game down, work the ball around the perimeter with larger players, and look for the over the top lob pass or post up by one of our bigs. It was effective early, and then we just got away from it and started doing dribble penetration desperation shots.

Lets go OWLS! We can win this thing.

Double Digits in the 2nd half....Not looking good...video feed is down from ASun.tv - not surprising, so I really don't have much of an idea of what is going on.

You guys played much better today. I'm just glad you can't put a picture like last year up with us on it. I'll just continue to enjoy last year's picture.

RE: Owls vs Bruins - Owlzfan84 - 03-02-2011 10:36 PM

tough game. we put up a better showing this time. I'm confident we can get a good team next year. We just need to be smarter. I know Ingle gets a lot of bashing on here and to tell you the truth some of it is deserved however its up to our players as well to show up and this year besides the Tech game, they barely did.

RE: Owls vs Bruins - KennesawBasketball - 03-03-2011 08:06 AM

I agree 84. Belmont is just a really good team. We could have played a great game and lost to be honest. We played hard and tough, and more like what I would like to see for the future. The head coach is always going to get the blame, but I do like Ingle and hope that he is back again next year. He has proven he can bring in some players, and we will finally be an experienced team next year with our leaders being juniors and seniors rather than freshman and sophomores. I think it is only fair that Ingle get a chance to win with the team he has built.

I agree. I feel he deserves one more year. I'd just like to see better ball movement, more drive and dish type plays. We got the players to do it. Plus, i dont know if anyone noticed, but i saw Markeith go to his left a few times yesterday lol. Maybe he is finally working on that. Our zone defense also needs some serious work. We commit too much and double team when its not necessary. Though our zone was a lot more effective with a bigger lineup.

RE: Owls vs Bruins - KennesawBasketball - 03-03-2011 10:31 PM

I liked the zone with Artie in the lineup. I think we will see a lot more of him next year.

RE: Owls vs Bruins - KennesawBasketball - 03-03-2011 11:06 PM

PG: Spencer
SG: Artie
SF: Markeith
PF: Aaron
C: Ladaris

That is a solid starting lineup that has major length. If we can add 2 or 3 players to that rotation I think we could have a team that could compete. Hopefully no surprises this offseason. Heramb and Kurtis' academic failures really hurt us this year.
