Actually the half-time score was 40-9. The Spiders had a bucket waved off in real time by the officials at the buzzer, but when they reviewed the video it was clear that the UR player got the shot off before the buzzer. The Spiders could have won by a hundred, but by the eight minute mark in the second half, not only had all of the regulars been pulled and all of the subs played, there were three walkons on the floor playing for UR. The final was 81-40. Southern really isn't very good.

This was not a money game per se, in that Richmond didn't pay anything for the home game. It was part of the two home games that the Spiders got as part of the Chicago Invitational. Richmond will play Wright State (remember them?) on Friday, and Purdue or Southern Illinois on Saturday in Chicago. The Friday game will be a fairly neutral site, but both Purdue and Southern Illinois have tons of alums in Chicago, so either way that will be closer to a road game for Richmond.
