Anybody have the skippy why Muskegon's Heights Willie Snead verballed to Ball State on Saturday. I know we offered and will need WR's in a couple years.

2011 DE Gary Myrick
6-5 250 lbs
Used to play at Nature Coast (Drake) but he currently plays at Hudson (Wynn). He was one of the strongest kids on our team his sophomore year, benching and power cleaning over 300 lbs!

Good call Bull. Myrick is a fine prospect. I know he's high on FIU's list. Got bounced from a game last year for unsportsmanlike conduct but that appears to be a one shot deal. I'd like to see him add a little weight and compete at DT.

RE: Official Recruiting Thread 2011 - Bull^Shark - 10-19-2010 01:15 PM

Yeah, definitely a one shot deal. I wish he was still suiting up for us.
He was forced to transfer 2 years ago as he was at Nature Coast by mistake. He lived in Spring Hill, but it was the small part that lies in Pasco County so he wasn't allowed to attend a Hernando County magnet school. He went to Land O' Lakes and just didn't fit there. He is at Hudson now and just doing what he can. He is a big old boy. He came to our game during his bye week to support us. If he could have stayed at Nature Coast he would have had 20+ offers. We still get mail for him. He will be a steal for someone!!!
You guys are still on S/OLB Jamie Byrd out of Pasco too. They are steamrolling everyone this season. They have a huge matchup with Land O' Lakes on Friday that should crown their district champ. He has offers from WMU, Purdue and a few others but Boise State is now coming into the picture. If they don't offer I see him going to Purdue with former teammate Josh Johnson though.

Yeah, I watched the tape on that kid, seems like a beast. Surprise FIU is the only offer thus far. Dip, gotta email Cubit on this one or something if they don't know about him already. :)

RE: Official Recruiting Thread 2011 - Bull^Shark - 10-19-2010 07:56 PM

Since I mentioned him. Here are highlights for Jamie Byrd as well.

Bullshark, you have any info on how WMU playing Notre Dame on TV is playing with the talent in Florida? It seems that the kids in Florida just want to go where they can play.

RE: Official Recruiting Thread 2011 - Bull^Shark - 10-25-2010 08:38 PM

I don't know about anyone outside my area but everyone here has been watching for Tevin in general.
I put his TD up on youtube also. Everyone was pretty excited about it and word spreads fast.
WMU can own this area if they want.
One of our new PE here coaches just graduated from WMU also.. pretty funny.

Its like our recruiting news is on double secret probation right now.

RE: Official Recruiting Thread 2011 - Chipdip1 - 11-08-2010 09:18 PM

We only have 13 left to give. The real push will start after the season.

RE: Official Recruiting Thread 2011 - floridabronco - 11-15-2010 09:28 AM

Welcome Joe Keels weakside DE.

RE: Official Recruiting Thread 2011 - Chipdip - 11-15-2010 10:17 AM

Make that 15 to give now. Addition through subtraction (Smith and Rice).

RE: Official Recruiting Thread 2011 - Stampede your face!! - 11-15-2010 01:34 PM

Wouldn't be surprised if we get up to 20 total to give. Seems to happen every year where we get an extra 3-5 scholarships from people who move on.

RE: Official Recruiting Thread 2011 - WMU69 - 11-15-2010 03:34 PM

dip, how does it work if a player leaves but stay in school? does the player still count as a fball scholarship?

RE: Official Recruiting Thread 2011 - Bull^Shark - 11-16-2010 07:41 PM

Gotta give my man some props again. Idk what people are waiting for..
Nature Coast RB/CB Isaac Bailey was voted as the Florida Athletic Coaches Association's District 8 Player of the Year!!!
Coaches from over 30 schools in 5 counties voted for this honor. The Nature Coast star showed all of them enough this season to beat out the likes of some big-time players; his teammate Ja’Juan Story, Stevie Weatherford, Ed Perry and Alvin Delaine to name a few. Isaac finished the season with over 1300 yards and 11 TDs rushing. He had a nice pick-6 recently and averaged 23 yards per return on both kickoffs and punts throughout the season. He will now represent the entire district in the state’s FACA North-South Football All-Star Classic game held in Sebring, Florida on December 22nd. Senior Safety Brenton Nuby was also selected to the All-District team.

RE: Official Recruiting Thread 2011 - Stampede your face!! - 11-16-2010 08:17 PM

Is he a better rb or cb prospect bullshark? I don't see WMU really in the mix for a RB this year with not as many scholarships as normal.

RE: Official Recruiting Thread 2011 - Bull^Shark - 11-16-2010 09:55 PM

Either way, he is fast, tough, athletic and most importantly to go with all that, coachable..
Last season he focused on CB when Tevin carried the load at RB and was shutting people down and making plays all over.
This season he focused on RB and averaged like 8 ypc (the majority of which was between the tackles).
I can definitely see him doing something like redshirting to add 15/20 pounds and then coming in on special teams for a while before moving in at CB and handling returns. A few schools have recently inquired and are really interested in him at RB though too.. (Maryland and Sacred Heart). We'll see..

I've taken him out of the Rivals system. We're not recruiting him. A WI high school publisher put him in as a WMU commit.
